Starter may be bad, or connection to the starter could be corroded or broken. There also may be a fuse, I'm not sure. Locate the starter and try running a jumper wire to it. Mini jumper cables will work. Hook those up to the battery and then run it to the starter. Ground it to a metal part and use the positive side to touch the power connector on the starter. IF the starter kicks, its a connection issue. If it doesnt, replace the starter.

Will do. Thanks for the reply.
cleaned the cables with a spray from the auto store. Still no response. Can the starter go out with no warning? I do not drive this truck much. It only gets driven once every 2 weeks or so.
Tried to bypass selenoid close to battery yesterday, and still no luck. Crawled under truck yesterday to check starter and noticed a few wires that seemed to be cut? Looks as if they were crimped between something and got severed? No moving parts under the truck where these wires were. I have no idea what the wires are. There is a connector that connects to what looks almost like a throttle mechanism ( although I thought the throttle thing was under hood), and when I follow the wires up from there, they along side the transmission, up under the hood and connect under the hood near the dash on the passenger side? Is this something to do with the ignition switch? The part and wires that I found broken were under the car if you crawl under the passenger door about the same distance back as the fuel filter but more towards the center of the vehicle.?? any ideas?
clean the battery cables with a cable cleaning tool from the auto parts store and try again, even a little corrosion is enough to cause this problem, do the job right.
