Yes there is. Above the brake pedal there is a switch tat turns the lights on when you press the pedal. It is tough to replace due to the lack o room to put your hands. but is an inexpensive part.

Did you use a test light or just look at it? One of the more effective tools in diagnosing an electrical problem like yours is a test light. The test light allows you to prove if electrical power is present in the circuit before replacing parts. With a test light, start at the fuse, then move to the stop light switch. The stop light switch should have electrical power to one terminal of the connector at all times. If not check wiring back to the fuse. When you push on the brake pedal a second and third terminal (if equipped with a third brake light) will have electrical power

Many vehicle’s brake light circuits share the same wire as the turn signal. If this is true on your vehicle, turn the directional signals on. If they work on both sides on the rear of the vehicle then the wiring and bulbs to the back are good. If the stop light switch is good and the wiring to the rear is good then you likely have a bad directional switch. Why? because the brake light circuit travels through the turn signal switch.

Make sure someone didn't put the wrong bulb in the socket, it should take a 3157, I have seen chevy's where you would hit the brakes with the key off and the brake lights work, and the instant the key was turned on and the day runners came on they wouldn't work, and all it turned out to be was someone put the wrong bulb in the brake-light socket. Other than the fuse, there are plug ins at the rear where the bed mounts to the frame, they feed out of the rear bed pillars directly under the tail lights, it is possible they could have been pulled loose by a trailer light harness, make sure the wires from the trailer light harness aren't shorting out. And check the brake pedal switch to make sure it isn't defective, new doesn't always mean good. Make sure there is power going to the brake pedal switch. If these things don't fix your problem you might have to get your multi meter out.

96 s-10 4.3vortec vin x no brake lights...all other lights work...bulbs ok...Is there another fuse somewhere besides 2 in fuse box? Brake switch ok also.

The only applicable fuse is 20A STOP HAZ FUSE 1. The STOP LAMP RELAY or the TURN-HAZARD SWITCH (multifunction switch) could be defective.

I have a 2005 ford explorer sport trac the brake lights and hazards, blinkers .i have changed the multi functional switch and relay switch still not working i have also checked bulbs and fuses

Check and clean the brake switch, look near the top of the brake pedal arm you will see a switch remove it, clean it, replace it. If issues are still there check your wiring for good connections, recheck fuses in car and under the hood.

No brake lights

If the fuses, bulbs, switch are good then its your wiring, you have a break somewhere, check the switch behind your brake pedal, make sure you have power to the light sockets and they are not burnt, my wife has a ford edge and burnt right rear socket and the light still worked, go figure, anyways good luck

I assume the fuse has power if the hazards work.
The third brake light skips the turn signal switch, the regular brake light circuit goes thru the turn signal switch.
Do you have power going into the turn signal switch on the red lite green wire from the brake switch ?

Brake lights on 1993 ford mustang doesnt work

Did you change the bulbs? It might also be bad wiring. You can check the wiring by using voltmeter connected to the brake light and then have someone depress the brake pedal. If there is not 12- 14 volts on the meter then you most likely have a loose or broken wire somewhere.

It does sound like brake light switch, some have separate circuits for 3rd brake light. One question for ya... do you have trailer hitch/wiring on the car. Sometimes trailer wiring will short out and give same symptoms.

Find the headlight relay and swap it with another relay to see if the lights come back on. If they do, replace the relay with a new one.
