Question about 1993 Subaru Legacy

1 Answer

Engine Mechanical problem 1993 Subaru Legacy 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 138000 miles It ran this morning like there was nothing wrong. But for some reason it was doing that yesterday. The car will decide to just flutter and die. It usually works for a while after doing that if I turn it off. But i will be driving down the road and it will lose power and act sluggish. I was thinking it maybe a fuel pump or fuel filter. But I dunno. the vin is 4s3bc6321p963292--. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you will find a code that says Misfire cyl 4. Or it could be any cyl. Most of the time it is worn out spark plugs. that's the easy fix. If it does the same thing after new plugs then you may have burnt valves which is not an unusual problem with Subaru and quite expensive to fix. From $1500 to $2200 depending where you go for repairs.

Engine Cooling problem 2003 Dodge Caravan 6

It needs a thermostat and a coolant flush, in the worst case scenario a head gasket may be blown or leaking, have your mechanic do a coolant flush, thermostat, and leak check.

1990 subaru legacy 4x4 problems

This transmission has a 4 wheel drive unit on the back of the trans this has a known fault which this unit could have, take to your local trans specialist and he will be able to verify and qoute, You also could check the fuse for the 4 wheel drive. normally in the fuse box under the bonnet marked 4wd or awd, this also would cause your fault.

2001 subaru legacy leaking coolant from head gasket......

Your mechanic is ok with saying that...however you should replace both head gaskets. This can get costly if you take it to have it done somewhere, but if you use a manual from your local library or buy one from your local auto parts store, its a much more cost effective way of fixing it. You are ok to drive it, be sure to check your fluid before you do. I would look into getting these changed within the next few weeks.

Thanks for using Fixya!

Sincerely,

1996 Subaru Legacy No Power At All

Last night I checked the battery and it was still good. I disconnected and then reconn ected both terminals and that brought the power back. When I turned the key the power went out again. I repeated the procedure but did not turn the key. Instead, I took off the knee bolster and tried to wiggle the wires under the dash to see if I could find the source since it seems to be related to the ignition. Nothing cut the power so I started it up and it worked fine except for the check engine light which was flashing that says I have a misfire condition. I drove the car 25 miles to work this morning and will be taking it to the dealer for a better inspection.
