Removed two screws from the perimeter of the door, one in the back edge and the other under the bottom. Remove one screw from the handle cup where the window switch is located. Placed some tape around the edge of the handle cup for protection against scratches and pried the cup out with a small putty knife. It is hard, but will pop out. Next I taped the paint around the door panel and used a flat bar to reach behind the panel and had enough of a gap to see the orange tabs and pried each one to remove the panel completely. The panel does not need to be lifted up to removed, just pull it straight off the door. A few tabs may still be holding, but will pop off with a bit of pressure.

    The right left rear door panel has slightly pulled away from the frame and I can see what looks like a plastic molly bolt that has come out from the frame. Is this how the door panel is attached o the door frame in the upper left back corner under the window?

This info. from Taurus and Sable manual:
First remove battery cables to disable airbag.Wait a few minutes to discharge airbag.
Pry the switch out from the dash by using a small screwdriver in the slot beneath it. Replace the switch, or test the dimmer with an ohmmeter to see if it is the problem. don-ohio

2002 mercury sable insert key turn on all lights on dash light up but car does not turn over. Turn key off remove wait a cple minutes try again starts right up.
Might have key problem.If key has chip it isn't recognized first time. When you remove key and insert it again you get right recognition.That recognition is part of the anti theft stuff.

Where can I get instructions to replace a driver side review mirror on a 2002 mercury sable. It is heated with puddle light. I have the mirror and want to replace it myself.
On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

Right rear signal light needs replacing
you need to remove the lamp assembly to replace the bulb. here is the procedure:

Rear Lamp Assembly —Sable Four Door Removal and Installation
  1. Remove the luggage compartment scuff plate.
  1. Pull back the luggage compartment carpet.
  1. Disconnect the rear lamp assembly electrical connector.
  1. Remove the nuts.

How do I emove the window switch on a 99 Sable
The door panel has to be removed.
To remove the door panel:
Remove cover behind inside door handle.
Remove screw from bottom of pull cup retaining front door trim panel to front door
Remove three screws retaining front door trim panel to front door.
There are pushpins holding the door panel on
Do not attempt to remove more than one pushpin at a time.
Using a trim panel remover to pop the pushpins
remove the door trim panel by pulling one door trim panel pushpin at a time from the inner door skin
Disconnect electrical connectors as necessary
Using a small screwdriver, carefully spread switch retaining walls on window regulator switch plate and remove switch.
To install reverse proceedure.
