How do I install a brake controller on a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee for electric trailer brakes? I am wondering if Chrysler has a complete wiring harness on this truck or if there are some specific parts that I need.

Electric brake control/ abs light

This is a sensor usually located on the left rear tire on the inside of the brake assembly. It's the black plastic disk inside the brake rotor, between the dust shield and the rotor. there is a wire and a magneto sensor on it. If you don't know how to tear down the brakes completely, you should take this problem to a shop. It is rather complicated for this type of web page.

The read out on dash says service electric brake system, brakes seem to work ok and when i select cruise control it will not set

Do your brake lights work? Your cruise is tied in with your brake lights. If your brake lights are stuck on or there could be a bad switch or bad wire on the switch then your cruise wont work.

Installing a trailer brake controller and need to tap the brake light wire. This is the wire that shows 12 only when the pedal is pressed. What color is the wire on an '05 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd? I could...

Don't bother with a schematic...they all differ. Use a simple test light and just probe the rear light harness with everything turned off except for the brake lights, only one wire should show power. You can also check the color of the wire coming directly out of the bulb socket. I own a jeep, can read and draw wiring diagrams and have yet to find a diagram that has the same color coding as my vehicle.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake Light keeps burning out

If this vehicle has an aftermarket towing package installed check for the trailer hitch wires shorted or kinked under the vehicle.

I have a 2004 jeep grand cherokee i installed a 4 way flat plug for a utility trailer. I installed as instructions said but have no brake lights on the trailer, Everything else works. can you help me?

you will need to add an trailer light adaptor for this vehicle. this adaptor will combine the brake and signals from two separate sources. this unit can be purchased at walmart, Canadian Tire, Partsource, autozone. trailer shops. it will fix your issue. or purchase the vehicl specific kit for your Jeep.

Rear brakes on 1993 Jeep Cherokee

Well, you need to make an educated guess here. Most have 9 inch unless you have either a factory trailer package, or it was at one time a police vehicle.

Hitch installation w/electrical wiring for brake

Disconnect all that trailer connector mess and start over. Someone messed up. Do you have a 6- or 7- way RV connector, a 4- or 5-way flat (U-Haul) connector, or what? Was an electric brake box installed under the dashboard for trailer electric brakes?

Better yet, sell me your Jeep cheap, it probably can't be fixed, and it's worthless.
