The engine cattles when am driving it but if i

my parents have a 1999 bmw328i the engine cattles when am driving it but if i turn the engine off and back on again the cattling stops what can cause that problem.also if am speeding most times when the over drive comes in the engine looses power or even at high speeds. another problem is my asc and abs lights in the dash comes on when the engine looses power and sometimes they come on just like that. it is also burning gas fast what should be the solution to all of these problems
