When you get on a freeway with mulitple exits, it is supposed to calculate the time to the next exit. It goes into some sort of overload condition and anything that has to do with the computer that operates the navigation and almost everything else on the car goes into a mode where it will only respond after a minimum of 30 seconds up to a minute.

First off, understand, car manufacturers don't make their NAV systems, this one is supplied by DENSO Corp. Nav includes GPS tracking and an info disc and an onboard computer so it's not always a simple fix... and this is the latest generation of NAV with a ton of new features. I work in the industry TOYOTA/ LEXUS side and sometimes we end up with a seldom occuring problem, in your case on a fresh system but I'll gladly dig up info for you.... If you can clarify with a more specific description on the 30 second to 1 minute overload scenario, I will try to replicate and give you feedback via a master tech who is a good friend. Not sure if you mean the screen blanks out, or the recalculation doesn't update fast enough, etc... You can also try posting specifics on the LEXUS owners club forum... clublexus.... It is Very informative Don't let this sour you on the ownership of a fine vehicle. Remember you got from A to B before you had NAV. You will get this solved and LEXUS will prove your decision a wise one....
sounds like the nav is not set up correctly. is the "avoid toll roads" preference selected in the set up catagory?
