75 chevy Nova leaking oil and radiator fluid

I have a 75 chevy Nova and it goes through oil like crazy. I cant tell where the leak is coming from, behind the engine block or from the pc valve. Also the radiator fluid always seem to be low. I fill it everyday I changed the temp gauge but it still wants to run hot sometime after running it for an hour or 2. Plus it seems like im loosing power when I excellerate the valves click for a brief moment then it tries to pick up speed.

Hi,
Without seeing first hand, it's difficult to nail down the problem for a solution... but based on your description I would make it a first and foremost priority to resolve the oil leak. As you know, oil reduces friction in an engine. It is vital for the life of it. No oil = friction, overheating, and worse, damage to the engine.
The clattering could be because you are losing oil enough that there isn't sufficient lubrication for the engine, especially when reving up the rpms.
Fix this... Hope this helps... Good luck!

Let 1986 chevy nova get low on oil and now it ticks

It wasn't the oil level. Mine started ticking around 14K and it still ticks like crazy at 168K when the engine is warmed up and cruising. Goes away under moderate acceleration.

There is a thermostatic flapper valve in the exhaust manifold that is likely the source of the ticking when the engine is warm.

I have a oil leak at the front of my chevy truck it don't leak all the time it is on the driverside up near the radiator it is a auto matic 5.0

your transmission fluid also circulates through the radiator; and you may have an auxiliary cooler for power steering fluid which would also be near the radiator (usually in front of)

2000 chevy metro leaks transmission fluid

Yea! A Metro owner. Welcome. Well, you have such a big, burly wrap-around engine in there, it's gonna be hard to see the...lol, just kidding.
So, it's an automatic, I presume? There aren't that many places for them to leak, fortunately. The obvious places are the pan gasket for the bottom pan on the transmission/transaxle case, the two cooling lines coming out of the case and going to front of car to a fluid cooler either mounted in front of the radiator or in the radiator assembly itself, and the two drive axe seals. There is a hidden seal on the front mainshaft, but if it is leaking, fluid would come out on the lower plate between the transaxle and the rear of engine. The plate may be or have an inspection cover to remove, but the fluid would be dripping out the very bottom there and fluid would be present inside the inspection cover.
That should cover the main leak prone areas. Sometimes a dipstick tube's O-ring may fail and oil seeps out around the tube.
Good luck with the metro. Once you find the leak, it should be pretty apparent how to fix it. Installing driveaxle seals would be hardest, or most involved.

Why does my 2005 impala leak dexcool like crazy, which throws my heat off.

Do you have any dex in your oil? Have u checked all lines from resevoir rubber and metal? Check ****** lines coming from radiator? Is there dex in your ****** fluid? It's gotta be going some where. Some leaks may not show unless you throttle the engine up. Be careful working around belts and fans when engine is running.

one would think that a person with the wherewithal to purchase a german car would take it to a german car dealer and get it fixed. the labor and parts expense are part of the german patina. if you know anything about cars, take a look at possible vacuum lines attached to the transmission. on cheap old american cars there was a vacuum activated transmission gear kick-down, and often the membrane in the vacuum link would rupture causing transmission fluid to be sucked through the vacuum line and into the combustion chamber and hence out the exhaust. that is old school design and i am sure german cars discarded it long ago, but put it up on a lift and give the tranny a visual anyhow just in case those germans are laughing at us and driving chevies.

Hi, If you see white smoke coming from tail pipe then you will know it is leaking through engine.
I would suggest after you replace head gasket, that you put new radiator fluid (50/50) mix and a new thermostat in. The fluid will keep it from boiling over. Good luck.
