Question about 2004 Ford Ranger

1 Answer

My blower control stays in defrost mode even while turned to dash or leg vent. I recently changed my plugs but I don,t see any loose wires or vacuum hoses that might effect this. Could I have done something under the hood to cause this?

I'll bet when you changed the spark plugs, one of the small vacuum hoses got disconnected or cracked.look the small plastic hoses(1/8)size on the right side, near the firewall, bending them lightly.

Air does not blow through vent on 1994 chevy silverado

Which vents, floor--defrost--dash? Can you hear the blower motor running? The squirrel cage could have broken loose from blower motor? There could be an actuator problem under the dash? If actuators are vacuum controlled and vacuum is lost, it might default to defrost, only blow out defrost vents.

Air not blowing out of vent on 1999 chevy suburban

MODE SELECTION IS VACUUM OPERATED. DEFROST AND FLOOR ARE A DEFAULT MODE WHEN SYSTEM FAILS. YOU HAVE A VACUUM LEAK, FAULTY VACUUM SWITCH ON DASH CONTROL UNIT OR A BAD VACUUM MOTOR IN DASH

The blower motor stays on high all the time. A/C works but will not come out dash vents, comes out defrost and changes to floor when I accelerate. Thanks for your help. Cecil

Your problem with the blower motor only running on high is caused by a defective blower motor resistor pack. Replace the resistor pack. The problem with the vents is not related to the blower motor, and is caused by a problem with the vent controls. I suspect you have a vacuum leak under the dash.

Vent control for climate control does not change positions

Air will only come out of the defrost vents on the dash i assume? The defrost vent is the default position when the system looses vacuum. Under the hood look for a broken or disconnected vacuum line on or near the engine in the area of the passenger side of the firewall. You may even hear the a slight "hisss" indicating a vacuum leak. Reconnecting the line to the appropriate port will restore proper vent operation.

Blower is on but no air comes out of the ducts

most fords control the vents with vacuum and if it looses vacuum the default mode is defrost. so check the source coming from the motor(sometimes its a electric pump but i think it will be feed form the motor for you) it will most likely go through the fire wall on the passengers side also there should be a resivour under the dash some where. you will just have to find the vacuum supply line and locate the leak.

Heater/Air air will blow out of defrost and floor vents but not dash vents

it sounds like you had the same problem I had a while back. There is a couple of "doors" on the blower motor that sometimes get stuck or broken, I took my jeep into an offroad shop and they fixed it with spare parts. They assured me that even if you took it to the dealer it's only like a 15-30$ part but it's the shop time that will kill you.
