Question about 2006 Pontiac G5

I have the same problem with the key being stuck in the ignition

My key started getting stuck but I was always able to get it out by drving the car a bit and trying again. Then that stopped working. I noticed then that the release button on the gear stick was sticking in. When I got it unstuck, the key would come out. Now it's just stuck and nothing is working. Taking it to dealer and hopefully it won't cost me an arm and a leg! Fingers crossed!

Just repaired my girlfriend one, and like you said the button keeps sticking, cuz their is a small rod, that got loose, you need to remove all the panel around the stick, most are just clip-on, might need, to force them, and the last big peace, as 6 screws, and from their, look under the stick, on the passenger side you'll see the switch, , just push back the rod in place and voila!, I just did it,

I have a 2003 saturn vue and my key always gets stuck in the ignition. Now I can't even turn the key at all, I really don't know if I have to change the whole ignition or just the part where the key goes...

It needs a new lock assembly. Or you can do as all the car thieves do and buy a slide hammer and pull your lock out and start it with a screwdriver

I have towed several of these with same problem. Sounds like to me it needs to go back in for the ignition switch again. Unless it's not going into park. If it's not going into park it would be a shift linkage issue and needs to be adjusted. Chris J.C. Towing & Recovery

Ignition key gets stuck and car won't start

you might need to replace ignition key cylinder assy and replace current key, now, sometimes if this is a automatic transmission it might have problem with shifter interlock cable try moving shifter from park to first and back to park and try removing key again, but if key gets stuck and car won't start, does the key turns? does the engine cranks? are you using the correct key?

Key stuck in ignition of 1996 Toyota 4Runner

This truck has a switch in the shifter assembly that tells the ignition the truck is in Park or not. If the shifter doesn't hit that switch right this can happen. Also, there is a component in the ignition (a solenoid) that allows the key to be released if the Park switch is pushed. To be sure it's one of these two things, try this.... Get the key stuck, then disconnect the battery. If the key comes right out, it's either the switch or the solenoid. Good luck!

Wont start right away

bad solenoid / winter kills solenoids and there right beside the exaust the hot and cold wears them out real real fast.change the solenoid and it should be back to normal.and sounds like you need a new ignition key switch.
