Question about 2001 Subaru Forester

1 Answer

2001 Subaru Forester, rear wiper does not work. Also overhead console clock. These may be typical problems since I had another Forester with the same issues.

Switch works and the relay in the back clicks so I am leaning towards the motor being bad. Did some Googleing and found others who have taken apart the motor and lubed it and freed it up, then it worked. Must be a typical problem area for them. I still need to do some voltage testing for the overhead console clock.

Hi,

There are 3 thing's that you need to investigate :-

1. Wiper Switch
2. Blown Fuse or Bad Ground
3. Rear Wiper Motor.

Usually for clock, It's Blown Fuse.

So, guess if we combine there 2 reasons, First bet would be to check all the Fuses and Wiring.

Let me know, if need further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

My 2001 subaru forester clock works intermitently. Sometimes the numerals are very dim and other times are not there.Could this be a low voltage/bad grounding problem?

Sounds like your clock is dying. This is typically an issue with the clock itself. This is very common with many vehicles, CR-Vs, Pathfinders, 4runners, etc. The good news is that it can be repaired for a reasonable rate, check out www.autoclockrepair.com

Replacing digital clock lamp in 2005 Subaru Forester

If your talking about replacing your Forester Clock module, you can find helpful tips at www.subaru-clock.com. If your clock is not working, it is most likely the clock module, which can be refurbished inexpensively at the aforementioned site. A "dead" or intermittent clock display is a common problem with certain years of Subaru.

The overhead digital clock quit working...

I had this problem. This happens alot on these clocks. The problem is usually a bad solder connection to one or more components on the clock board. Can easily be fixed using a $8 soldering iron from Radioshack.

2001 subaru forester 225000 kms..how long do they typically last?

Provided the vehicle has been serviced regulary and had good quality oil and filters, theres no reason the car shouldn't get 400,000+ kms. Check its service history, and its oil consumption.

Clock not working/dead

There are some 1W surface mount resistors on the circuit board for this clock. Two are labeled 300 and one is labeled 510. One or more of the solder joints for these resistors has cracked. This is a known manufacturing defect. Re-solder the ends of these resistors and the clock will work fine.

2001 subaru forester rear wiper motor replacement

Hi, it is pretty straightfoward (ahem, you know how this can go. depends on whether your wiper arm retaining bolt is frozen and snaps off the shaft or not). First, take a look at your fuse to make sure it is intact. If it is, just gently pop off all of the plastic trim covering the tailgate, and undo screws too as necessary. Then test the connector wires to be sure you are still getting power back there to the motor, I used a $4 test light that I got from AutoZone. Then use a large philips head screwdriver and 10mm socket to remove the whole dang thing.
