Question about 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Accelerator has surged many times, sometimes while

My accelerator has surged many times, sometimes while driving, from a complete stop and when just inching along in stop and go traffic. This surging has also occurred driving slowly in Reverse which caused extensive damage in the resultant accident.

What is this all about and how do I get Hyundai to take responsibility?

Did the 'Check Engine' Light come ON? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on. You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

first thing to do would be a transmission service, the filter may be clogging up which reduces the pressure, if that does not work you may be looking at a new torque converter and or pump.

Have the fuel pressure checked- this would determine if your fuel pump is working properly. Its really easy if you have a gauge. you might be able to rent one at a part store. or it could need a new fuel filter
