Question about 1995 Ford Taurus

Open Question

My 95 taurus won't start. it wants to but it's not.

There's 162,000 miles on it and the air filter is new. but it won't start. if you push the gas pedal it sounds like it's gonna start but it cuts off right away. the puel pump isn't the problem someone figured that out. but how do you unblock the cat converter? and where is the fuel filter?

Change Spark Plugs---every 3 years
Clean MAF Sensor--- twice a year
Change Oxygen Sensors (front ones) at 100,000 miles
Check for cylinder misfires
Back Probe & check TPS Sensor Voltages
New Air Filter & Gas Filter ---every 3 years
Check for Vacuum Leaks on entire vehicle including
Evap System,Exhaust before converter & Intake

I assume no check lights as you didn't mention it

Car looses power when driving, won't accelerate

Most likely the exhaust converter is worn out
& broken up inside & blocking exhaust flow

I will assume your gas filter hasn't been on the
car for ten years

You can not run O2 Sensors over 100,000 miles
or Spark Plugs over 3 years or 60,000 miles

The TPS Sensor could be worn out

If the Transaxle is 13 years old that surely could
be slipping & in need of a rebuild
The average Taurus trans goes 65,000 miles then
breaks down

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 that doesn't overheat but acts like its not getting fuel sometimes. There is no consistency to when it does it, it does not do it all the time. When you push down...

Your indications sound more like a clogged fuel filter or intermittant fuel pump. But it could also be your air supply! When was the last time you changed your air filter and fuel filter. I would start with those two first and then check the fuel pump.

My 95 Jeep GC had a similar problem when I was doing a lot of driving on dirt or gravel roads, and I had to blow out the air filter (with compressed air) often to clear the problem.

I have a 95 ford taurus and when i give it gas it won't speed up, even when i floor it, it takes several seconds for it to go

Drop into autozone or pep boys and have it scanned for trouble codes & go from there. Has it been tuned up & serviced lately, such as new fuel filter , air filter etc. Has fuel pressure been checked?

95 taurus stalls out when temperature exceeds 102. The temperature gage seems to be in the normal range , when this occurs. Once car has cooled off, it drives fine. I have read that the 95 Taurus has had...

your evaprative emissions could be purging into the engine at that point too, giving too rich a mixture.

here's what you are referring to:

ISSUE: A reduced power, hesitation, stalling at low vehicle speed, idling and/or a no start condition may occur on some vehicles in hot ambient temperatures and/or high altitudes. In addition, a no start may result while the engine is still hot and the vehicle has been parked for a short period. A stall may also occur when moving the vehicle from idle. This may be caused by a lack of vapor ports in the fuel pump, resulting in a vapor lock condition or internal high wear of the fuel pump components due to tank contaminants.
ACTION: Perform normal diagnostic routines as described in the appropriate year Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Manual (PC/ED). If the condition still exists after all diagnostics are followed, replace the fuel pump with a new turbine fuel pump. Refer to the following Part Application Chart for correct part usage. Also, replace in-line fuel filter with a new filter (E7DZ-9155-A). The new turbine fuel pump will reduce the possibility of vapor lock in high ambient temperatures. Refer to the appropriate model/year Service Manual for removal and installation procedures.
