Question about 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

High pitch rubbing sound front brake/wheel area at low speed approx 15-20 MPH. Intermittent problem happens more in hotter climates but does also happen at lower temps also (65 deg) If I slam the brakes most of the time the sound will go a away for a few seconds and then come back. With my first drive of the day problem is not there, but only after a little while. Also if I drive some distance 20 Miles or more the problem is not there as frequently.

Check your brake pads to make sure they're not wasted. sometimes the high pitch sound is the brake pad warning indicator scraping on the rotor. if that's the case replace immediately and inspect your rotor for damage. Also check the dust shield to make sure it's not rubbing as well.

Mine had this problem and they repaired it saying that it was something related to the 4x4. Even though i don't normally use the 4x4 it was claimed to be some plastic part that was making the noise. They repaired it a couple times since 2002 but that was in Colorado. now in Cali and it only happens on a rare cold day.

2010 endeavor making whining noise from rear end at any speed. It is a front wheel drive. Put on new tires, still doing it.

If the sound gets higher pitched with higher speed, you may have a bad wheel bearings. If the whining stays constant, there may be something rubbing like the brake backing plate (especially on drum brakes). Try putting your hand near the backing plate after you drive it a bit. The friction from rubbing will make it hot.

Low pitch whirring sound coming from front end when above 30 mph

It could be that you have a front wheel bearing that is getting noisy. Have someone ride in the RF seat and listen to the noise to try to figure out which front wheel the noise is coming from.
Also , check the tread pattern of the front tires to see if it has some unusual choppy pattern forming.

2005 Ford Explorer is making a grinding noise

I had some issues with my 2005 explorer left rear. It was making a creepy old door sound at low speeds and then a high pitched whisel at high speeds. That turned out to be a broken wheel bearing and had it replaced. Note each wheel has two wheel bearings. After that a new noise developed that sounded like metal scraping/ grinding metal. It end up being the brake dust cover got bent when they replaced the bearing and it was rubbing something, the fix for that was bending it so it didn't rub. I hope this helps.

Metal on metal sounding clicking noise while the wheels are turning but only on the frot driver and passenger wheels. What is going on? It started out only on the passenger side and then after the tire...

Is the noise a screeching high pitch or a growling low pitch?
It sounds to me that the CV joints might be bad and you need brakes.
high pitch would be the brake warning tabs
the low pitch would be the brake pads are gone and you are on the rotors gringing away metal

Sounds like you have a cv joint problem, or the front brake pads are worn down to metal and rubbing against the rotor, also could be the wheel bearing. Better have it checked.

Bearing problem? in 2006 Pilot

Even though you had the brake pads replaced, and since the sound you describe is a "rubbing" sound, I would suspect that the brake caliper piston is sticking and causing brake drag. The only way to check is to pull the wheel and check the caliper. If it is sticking, it will wear the pad out quickly and wll generate heat. After driving, check for excessive heat coming from the wheel. It could be a wheel bearing, but I would check out the brake caliper first. Sure hope this helped. Good luck.
