Have 03 silverado V6 1500 50k miles no shift 2-3

Have 03 silverado V6 1500 50k miles will not shift 2-3. In shop had trans " flushed" new filter/fluid same problem. Error code read 1-2and 2-3 shift solenoids bad, replaced those $570 later same day same problem soon as I left the shop.Trans has never slipped and always shifted fine unitl today. Truck has been drivin like a car.Does this sound like an electronic problem or do i need a new trans ? Service mngr says bring it back to put a gauge on it to check fluid pressures for faulty valve?
Neat web site
Thanks !

Unless there's other circumstances the shop should have checked the codes first. From there they should have followed a basic diagnostic route such as making sure it has fluid pressure in all valve shift circuits and the correct pressure. But, it's most likely that you need a trans and a long test drive after doing the valves would have gave them a clear direction to go in if the problem is not interrmitant,

check trans fluid level/color. trans may have old/bad fluid in it and may need to be flushed and new filter installed.

You need a new Trans Control Solenoid--one unit with all 3 pressure control and 4 shift solenoids, in one unit.
Remove trans pan, gasket reusable, remove filter, remove 7 torx screws and one 10mm wire harness connector bolt, then pull down old solenoid pack.

Part # 9L2Z7G391A 515.30 list/332.20 cost at trans supply house

Do Not Go to a Dealer, unless your Warren Buffet or Bill Gates

Change the fluid a couple more times, after installing the new solenoid pack, and driving a couple weeks with no issues. Add a bottle of Red Lubgard, to your Mercon V Trans Fluid, at the last fluid change

Also--pull injector fuses, crank over engine, and flush Power Steering Fluid. (Dex/Merc Fluid)

Put a line pressure gauge (or visit a local trans shop) on the pressure test port and go for a drive to verify proper line pressure. Base pressure at idle in P,N,OD should be around 70psi and around 140psi in R. Max line pressure should be at least 190psi at WOT in 1st or 2nd, 225psi is optimum. If base pressure is low, trans or pump is worn out. If max pressure is low, check EPC solenoid. If reverse is slow to engage, and line pressure does not come up to at least 130psi in reverse, replace the boost valve with a Transgo 0.500" boost valve (easy fix in pan)
1-2 shift does not happen at WOT until you let off the gas: Best case: try replacing the TPS. Middle case: leak in the 2nd gear apply circuit (servo assembly or 1-2 accumulator). Doublecheck by using the pressure gauge and watch for a big drop when the PCM commands 2nd gear. Worst case: poor line pressure rise
1-2 Shift shudder at WOT; delayed or abnormal 1-2 shift; There's a problem ONLY on the 1-2 shift: 1-2 accumulator piston cracked or stuck cocked in the bore. Check the yellow spring inside the accum housing for breakage. Also, if the accumulator housing walls are scored, the housing must be replaced. Easy fix in the pan.
1-2 shift is delayed and harsh, may not shift into OD: Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace.
Good luck and suspect the first two problems mentioned above. Thank you for suing fixya

Usually burnt and discolored ATF mean pump or torque converter not doing there job or bands and clutches are worn. Shift solinoid or a pressure problem is the problem with 2nd and 3rd gear, Take it to a transmission shop and have them look it over but like I said earlierdiscolored ATF could mean a rebuild.

Transmission shifts hard when slowing down to stop

Dirty trans filter, stickey trans solinoid,or your torque converter is not unlocking. If you can due it yourself try running some trans flush then replace the filter.

03 silverado revs on 2-3 shift, light acceleration

Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace.

Double check by using the pressure gauge and watch for a big drop when the PCM commands 2nd gear. Worst case: poor line pressure rise. Poor line pressure rise due to leaking boost valve, clogged EPC filter screen, failing EPC solenoid, or worst case: leaky seals throughout. Transgo HD2-C kit fixes first two without removing trans. Seal restorer may fix last problem, but probably R&R. Also try a transmission flush with BG brand products (Firestone stocks it).

Put a line pressure gauge ($55 shipped on Ebay, or visit a local trans shop) on the pressure test port and go for a drive to verify proper line pressure. If reverse is slow to engage, and line pressure does not come up to at least 130psi in reverse, replace the boost valve with a Transgo 0.500" boost valve (easy fix in pan).

Good luck and hope this helps get more life out of your transmission, but start with the simple and check the TPS and replace if worn.

I have a 2007 lexus 350 and the transmission jumps every morning.Almost as if it shifts to a lower gear. I have 75k miles. My husband says its sliping.

RX350's are are known for blowing trannys.(I work in a Toyota dealer) Id try a nice tranny fluid flush to try and save it with nice new clean fresh fluid. Also check for stored codes in ECU or tranny controle module to make sure it isnt just a bad shift solonoid in the valve body. If the flush dosnt work and it still does it id look into bringing it to a tranny shop and see if it can be rebuilt or it may need to be replaced with a new or used one.... I have seen alot of tranny jobs been done on those vehicles before.

You are going to need a transmission shop. Mazdas do not always throw codes. You have an early OBD transmission, which do not send out many codes.
