Question about 2002 Pontiac Aztek

1 Answer

I went to start my car today (2002 pontiac aztek) and it did not start. My husband jump started it. It started. Let it ran for 10 min. and then went down the rode to a market. I kept my car running. On my way back, the system started shuting down and my car stopped. Would not start. All this time the security light was on. My husband jumped started it again and got it home. He continued to let it run, turned it off, and it will not start. ShelbyA

Your problem is either the Alternator isent charging its 13.5 volts and the battery is flat or wont hold the charge SO do this.
Jump start engine again let it run for 2 minutes then turn on lights,, the head lights should go bright at 13.5 volts. it engine cuts out..and the lights dont go bright,, then the Alternator is not charging,,,, If they go bright and still cuts out the batterys NO GOOD.
Replace battery or get it checked outit must hold 12volts all the time Let me know how you get on.

My 2002 pontiac aztek battery light came on yesterday. Today i went out and NOTHING. jumpstarted it ran for a few minutes then died. Will not start without being jumped. i figured out how to get past the...

Hello! I do not believe this is a security issue...The Battery Light is telling you that the charging system has a fault...One of three possibilities exist...# 1...The battery can no longer hold a charge...
# 2...The Alternator is defective...Or # 3...The cables that interconnect power and ground are corroded and resistive...Do you have a voltmeter and a wee bit of experience using one?...If not send a comment...Set the meter to rear +12 volts...Place the meter probes directly in the center of the battery post...Record the reading...Jump start the vehicle...Quickly remove the jump cables and while the engine is still running, take the same reading again...The second reading must be 1.8 to 2 volts higher than the first...This tests the alternator...If alternator is good...Have the battery tested...Clean cables (on both ends) if necessary...

When the battery, alternator and cables are correct, the battery light will go out...At that point in time the engine should start...If not, then we have other issues and I'll fix them if necessary...

Security light came on yesterday... nowy car

Turn key to run position and leave it there for about 10 mins.......or until security light goes out.
Car should start then.
Also......try another key.....the reader in the lock cylinder may like it better.

2002 Aztek with remote starter won't start

Mine was doing the same thing. My husband found it wasn't getting any juice to the fuel pump. The wiring was all corroded. He fixed the wiring, and the car started right up!

2001 Pontiac Aztek STILL will not start.

If the car is clicking, it is most likely the starter engaging, but it doesnt have enough power to crank. Charge the battery or try getting a jump.

Aztek will not start.

First check if battery if it is charge and try again ,or use one that have full charge.
If works you alternater is not charging,
Can also check alternater by pulling ground cable off wile car is running and if stops running change you alternater.
