Check engine light is On,This is indication that there is error code stored in your cars computer. To know what error code is stored in the cars computer. The computer has to be scanned with scan tool. This can be done either at Honda dealer ship or at local auto parts store who has this car error code scanning tool.Once the error code is scanned. It will point out towards the fault.

2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo showing code p1686, p1687, p1688, geuges go down, all warning lights come on, with time, the geuges comes on, and the warning lights come off, all but the security key...

Diagnostic Fault Code (DTC) P1686 has a generic description of "No SKIM Bus Nessage Received".
Diagnostic Fault Code (DTC) P1687 has a generic description of "No Instrument Cluster Bus Message"

P1688 is either not a valid code for your vehicle, or the manufacturer failed to provide specific information for it.
Basically, what is going on here is that you have a problem in your computer network communication bus. Or to put it more simply, the "phone line" is down. Your computers in your vehicle are having problems talking to each other.

"SKIM" stands for Sentury Key Imobilizer Module (AKA security module). The Instrument cluster and the SKIM are not communicating with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) for sure, and possibly also not communicating with the Body Control Module (BCM). There may also be problems with other modules that share the same data lines.
This MUST be diagnosed with a scan tool that can access the entire computer network. You must find out which modules can communicate with the scanner and which ones cannot. This is necessary to determine the possible location of the fault.

I just changed the battery in my 2002 honda accord and now the alarm keeps going off. i did what the manual told me to about putting the ignition key in the door and unlock it then lock it back then unlock...

The remote has lost the ability to communicate with car. Put the key on the ignition, press on the remote (button for unlocking) and dont let go, turn the ignition to the #2 position (radio on) and you should see the key emoticon flashing in the dashboard, then let go of the remote button. repeat operation just to make sure. If you have a spare remote, do the same. This applies to the PRESTIGE alarm system, will probably work on superlock too, if your Accord has that option.

Red maintenance light what do i need to get fixed

Take your car to a reputable mechanic or to a local autoparts store. They will use their scanner to obtain the error code your car's computer is putting out. The code will give you the 1st step in resolving the issue.

The maintenance check engine light change to yellow from green first.. Now turning into red

The maintenance light by the odometer is just a 10,000 mile indicator. You can reset it by pushing the tip of your key on the reset slot in the speedometer, which is exactly what a mechanic will do after performing the appropriate maintenance for the age of the car.

How many miles are on the car? Your owners manual will have a table in the back that lists what work should be done and when. If you do all your own work, then just reset your maintenance indicator and go on your merry way.

If not, then you should take it to a mechanic for the service checks, and have them reset the indicator.

If your Check Engine light is also lighting up, then you should take it to a mechanic or an Auto Parts store (checker/autozone/pep-boys,etc) and they can read the trouble code for free. On a 1996 Accord, the connector is behind the ashtray in the center console.

How do i make the MIL light go away?

have you tried wishing it away???? The mil light is a malfunction indicator light, which means that if its illuminated the vehicle has a problem. this can be as simple as a sensor recording a one time out of range reading or as advanced as a communication problem or shorted sensor. if all seems to be operating well, try a local mechanic or dealership to get it diagnosed, ask for a copy of the code(s) that were stored and we can go from there, but this is way to generic to be answerd expertley

Lights are dim in the clock and cd panel

The circuit board in your radio has fried. This circuit board powers not only the radio but also the lights for all of climate controls. Honda is aware of the problem and has extended the warranty on the stereo to 107K miles. Your local Honda dealership can get the replacement circuit board that also has modified resistor placement to eliminate this from happening in the future.

Key Pad Entry does not work

does the key pad light when you press a button at night? If yes, the fuse is ok.
Do you have the plastic card with the permanent code in your owner manual packet? If yes, tryit.
report back.

Keyless Entry The keyless entry keypad is hardwired to the GEM. The GEM interprets the inputs from the keyless entry keypad and then controls the associated operation. The keyless entry keypad will be illuminated for five seconds when any button is pressed. Additionally, it will request the illuminated entry feature to turn the courtesy lamps on. If a lock all doors code is entered, the illumination will turn off, as well as request the illuminated entry feature to turn off the courtesy lamps. When pressed, the keyless entry keypad supplies the ground signal to the GEM or the GEM receives a signal from the keyless entry remote transmitter. Then the GEM outputs a ground signal to the appropriate lock or unlock relay which supplies the power to the actuator to lock or unlocks all doors, including the luggage compartment. The keyless entry remote transmitter also unlocks the liftgate or activates the panic alarm by sending a signal to the GEM.
