When the check gages light comes on just after start up usually one or more gages have momentarily not picked up yet. Dodges are famous for this. If the light stays on for more than 10 seconds and all gages are working t could be a faulty sending unit or you may have to get the computer software reloaded at a dealer

On GM models the check gauges light meant you are getting low on gas. If you put more than 1/4 tank of gas in it..it will go out. Also on these Durango it has its own trouble code reader. It is where the miles odometer show the mileage..turn the key on, then off, then on again look at the mileage thing you will see the trouble code number. ALSO..These durango's have a grimlin with the ****** that dodge dont want people to know about. Just google your durango problem transmission....you will see what i'm not wanting to type.

Do you notice anything strange about any guage... like oil pressure or coolant temperature...all guages need to be operating in the normal range... they can not be eratic,,,, jumping or so on.. if so then need to address the sensor associated with that guage

Michael, take vehicle into a good shop and have scanned to see what diagnostic codes are in computer, have shop estimate repair.
Issue with fuel gage could be bad wire/plug or faulty sending unit.

Check gages light keeps coming on I've put two alternators on it and a new battery. It will run for a few minutes and the light will come back on.

The check gauges warning light means one of the gauges is either below normal or above. Is one of the gauges out of normal range ?

2001 dodge durango check gage light came on, battery gage when to low. Do I need a new battery?

Have your charging system checked. It could be a bad battery not taking a charge, or it could be an alternator problem, not putting out sufficient power.

My check gages light come on as well. When it happens, my oil gage drops as well. When check gage light goes off, the oil gage returns to normal. Lately, the problem is getting worse. Then check light is...

I don't see the problem
You have a check light on, most of the time.
Check lights have been on vehicles for 31 model years now. Surely you know why! You have a system malfunction, get the code read, as soon as the light comes on,and have the vehicle repaired.

What has, getting tired off a vehicle and a newer one, that will develop similar issues, have to do with this. Educate yourself.

Evaporative emission system - small leak/no BB flow condition

Although I recommend you buy a Haynes service manual for your Dodge, I think you will find the canister attached to the firewall or one of the fender wells. Most of them look a lot like an overgrown spam can and it will have two connections on it.
