Sounds like you have either clogged injectors or a bad tranny also you have a governor that wont let your rpms go over a certain number of revolutions this is to prevent the engine from seizing

If your standing still in park it wont rev past 3000 rpm as its got a limiter on it And only revs past 3000 rpm in drive on the move.

That is a typical RPM at that speed for most 6-speed 4 cylinder engines. The reason for this is that they have a much lower power output at lower RPMs (due to lack of torque), and the engineers want for you to have SOME acceleration to get up little hills.

Is revving up to 3000 rpms when I accelerate but will not go past 50-55 mph no matter what, & is burning up a lot of fuel.


if your check engine light is on, you can go to most auto parts stores and they will read the problem codes for free. it could be a bad 02 sensor or a failing convertor. have scanned to find out for sure. have a good one !!

Engine revs up to 3000-4000 rpm all by itself
