My 2000 dodge neon 2.0, just cut off whwhile I was driving. It needed a water pump like a month ago. Now it just turns over like it jumped time.

Looks like the timing belt broke. It also drives the water pump which I'm sure is what took out the timing belt. That has a interference engine so you may need a valve job if it slammed the valves. 50 50 chance its all done unfortunately....

Timing belt problems on 2000 Neon. they changed the water pump tried to start the car it won't start after many tries. Will this mess up the engine?

Very likely the timing is off. As long as it's not too far off it's not going to damage anything. First one I ever changed I was 2 teeth off on the cog and it just cranked. Problem is it has to be torn back down to be timed properly. Hope it's resolved shortly

How hard is it to change water pump and timing belt

its a pain. not really any room to work and if you get one of the pulleys off by one tooth it wont run right. its completely do-able though depending on your mechanical ability. my eclipse required a special tool to loosen the tension pulley on the timing belt but we found a way to get around it.

2000 ford escort zx2 had timing belt and water pump and vacum hose repaired/replaced now car stalls once in awhile at intersection. sounds good when starts but does not idle properly.

How long has it been since you had the belt replaced. Did you have a shop do it. Sounds like the timing belt might be off a tooth, can you take it back and have them recheck the timing?

Rough idle and stalling

if you have a check engine code on,scan it will point you at problem area,if notand if timing belt is pass due may be wearing out and jumped a few knotches,i would inspect it anyway
