Need a bit more information, Is the security light on, have you checked for spark and fuel pressuremy son has a 1999 grand am, just like the oneshown - 2.gif, just in case you did and know it is the passlock system then check this out, hopefully it will ansewer your problem, please rate your mechanics help.
have a great day. Sorry the pictures won't come up, but check out the site
GM Passlock I & II Information

Please study the following information carefully WHEN INSTALLING REMOTE START systems on a 1996 or later GM car or truck.
Introduced in 1996, GM has changed the VATS anti theft system to Pass-Lock system. This is a similar device to the VATS system, in that there is a resistor present during the start cycle. However, in the PASSLOCK system, the resistor has been placed inside the ignition switch, instead of the key. See the GM V.A.T.S page for more information.
To remotely start a car with this feature, you must bypass the PASSLOCK system. There are two methods of doing so.. The first, is to permanently bypass this system. This is the easiest method for accomplishing your task. The second way, is to temporarily bypass the PASSLOCK, by introducing relays into the system, which retain all of the features of the system, while allowing your remotes start module to bypass it automatically during a remote start cycle.
Vehicles effected
(1996 and newer): N & J body cars, such as
Pontiac Sunfire and GrandAm Passlock-1
Chevrolet2.gif Cavalier Passlock-1
Buick Skylark Passlock-1
Oldsmobile Achieva Passlock-1
1997 or newerChevrolet Malibu2.gif Passlock-II
Oldsmobile Cutlass Passlock-II
1998 or newer
All trucks , SUVs and Vans Passlock-II
It is important to pay special attention to the fact that there are many different ways of achieving the same goal. There are actually 2 different Passlock-II systems. On the next page, there are tests to establish which type of passlock-II your car has.
Relays shown are standard automotive 5 pin spdt relays, available from IEI.
A multi meter is required to measure the resistance values. Accuracy is important within 5%.
Once the value of the rmy son has a 1999 grand am, just like the oneshown - 2.gifor is measured, a resistor of the samevalue +/-5% must be purchased (Radio Shack2.gif, for example). You can also use a Potentiometer (POT), which can be adjusted to the same value of the resistor in the ignition switch.

Passlock-I bypass procedure....

1: Remove the top and bottom shrouds from the steering column.
2: Find the 3 wire ribbon cable2.gif, coming from the ignition switch, containing White, Black, Yellow (Sometimes White, Black, Black). These are THIN wires.
3: Locate the Black 6 position connector on the LEFT side of the steering column, right above the ignition switch position. There is a BLACK (Thin) wire in this connector, called "Bulb Test", which shows Ground with ignition in the Off position, OPEN in the "Run" position, and GROUND in the "Crank" position.
4: Turn the ignition switch to the "Run" position. Do not crank the car.
5: Cut the Thin Yellow wire and strip both ends.
6: Without cutting the Black wire, expose some of the copper.
7: Using thmy son has a 1999 grand am, just like the oneshown - pslk2.gifr, measure from the Yellow wire (the end coming from the ignition switch), to the exposed Black wire and record the value. Measure more than once to assure you have the right value.
8: Acquire the same size resistor and 3 relays, and perform the connections shown in the diagram below.

pslk2.gif PASSLOCK-II bypass procedure

There are 2 types of Passlock-II systems. To determine which system you have, follow these instructions;

1: Locate two wires, which are THIN and are in the main ignition harness.. Orange/Black (or Black) and Yellow.
2: Cumy son has a 1999 grand am, just like the oneshown - pslk3.giflow wire, and strip back some of the insulation from the Orange/Black (Or Black) wires.
3: Turn the ignition to the "Run" position ( don't crank the starter). Measure and record the value measured from the KEY SIDE of the Yellow wire, to the Black/Orange wire.
4: Turn the key to the "Crank" position and release. Now read the value again.
pslk3.gif5: If the value changed, follow "Method#1". If the value stayed the same, follow "Method#2".

Can not diasable the system, sounds like either reset or passlock driver needs to be replace, or BCM corrosion damage, or remote starter bypass module failure. these are the most common problems. A scanner of the BCM codes will make this easier to diagnose. you can reset the passlock system by turning key to start then run security light will flash, after @ 10 minutes the light will stop flashing, when that happens then turn key off for 5 seconds, then try and start car. good luck

1999 Pontiac Grand Am wont start. Fuel pump gets power for a second and then no power. What shuts off the power to the fuel pump?

you have to know that the fuel pump is power by the fuel pump relay
first when key on pcm prime a ground to the fuel pump relay and then the pcm need to know if engine is turning to stay on . make your test at the relay.

My 99 pontiac grand am wont idle or start i changed head gasket and intake manifold gaskets

First thing I would do is a compression test on cylinders, then fuel pressure test. Make sure your starter relay is good. If it is cranking over but not firing could be fuel relay, fuel pump, and could be as simple as a vapor lock. Spray some starter fluid in the intake, if it fires up for a couple seconds, then tells you not getting fuel, and this narrows down the search to the fuel pump relay, fuel pump.

Now your statement is YOUR CAR wont start or idle, as you can tell that is two different things. Which one is it, wont start at all? or starts then dies because it wont idle?If it wont start, then check the things I just advised, if it wont idle, then that could be plugs, coils, idle arm, fuel filter possibly clogged. List goes on and on. Need to know little more detail of what exactly it is doing, and what you have already checked or tried for me to dissect it down more direct with trouble shooting. I can help you for sure, just little more info needed, or you can go through the list I just said and it will I am sure fix problem once you check and repair or replace as you come across that problem area that is not functioning proper. Thanks Mike

1999 S-10 will start then shut off the fuel pump is good

check for loose or faulty electrical connections at distributor, coil,or alternator. Fault in fuel or electrical systems. Vacuum leak at gasket surfaces of intake manifold or throttle body. Make sure all mounting bolts/nuts are tightened securely and all vacuum hoses connected to the manifold are positioned properly and in good condition

When you say it shuts down do you mean "dies"? If so try checking your fuel pressure regulator.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado wont start. Cranks, but injectors do not pulse( fuel rail has pressure.)

If computer sees no crank sensor signal it shuts down pulses to the injectors. But, you bring something new into the mix. Make sure fender grounding is good so the relay can operate properly and make sure power going to it is not restricted by a loose or dirty contact on the power side.

My 03 grand am acts like no gas and wont start.

well, something is blocking your fuel line, try replacing the fuel filter and clean the fuel pump, rust might be blocking it. if you have time try draining your fuel tank too then get rid of the rusts. this will surely help

I have a 1999 grand prix gtp that shuts off when I'm driving it doesn't happen very often but yesterday it shut off on the highway the batt light and oil light came on right after and plus my car seems...

I'd definitley look at the fuel pump resistor first. Otherwise I'd say it's the fuel pump. But to find out before you spend too much money it may be worth your while to change the fuel filter, that will at least help whether the pump is bad or not.
