have already bled the lines and checked slave cylinder it all looks to be good, the puzzling thing is i have been constantly on the road with this pickup for the past month and it had no signs leading up to this, it sat for two weeks like i explained.i drove it about 4 miles no prob shut it off then went to drive it again and it fights getting into gear

ok drained the transmission oil in the Manuel transmission, could not get fill plug of so took the shifter off to fill it and when we did the the shifter bushings were in pieces. so we took a shot in the dark and replace them , there is still no change in the shifting i drove it down the road thinking maybe oil needed to circulate, but still no change have to fight it to shift it. if you are just sitting still it will shift from gear to gear but if you let it roll backward about 3 inches you play hell getting into first gear, but if i kick the clutch really hard to the floor it slides in with ease, i thinking maybe the master cylinder is bad? as i said before had absolutely no signs of any problems i just got from a 1600 mile round trip went to my sons for a few weeks and when got ready to go home it just all the sudden didn't want to shift, i know normally if the clutch is going out there are some signs, on most trans problems....

no the trany had never been messed with before last week ,, not to sound snotty but i have been working on engines sine i was old enough to learn the tools in the shop with dad i know the ins and outs of a motor and basics of a trans, and drive train. it has just stumped the heck out of me that one minute it was fine the next it wouldn't shift..yes i put the right tranny fluid back into it when i changed it,,,we took a shot in the dark and removed the master, well loosened off the firewall and jack the front end of the truck up till bottom end of master was up and re bled the master, not allowing any air into the refill. i drove it 199 miles lastnight and it was running ok when got into it this morning it is shifting a little ruf so I am going to replace the master and see if that works..

It sounds like it may have air in the lines. These are also bad about the slave cylinder bleeding down. Check the fluid level, and top off, bleed system, and top off fluid again. If it continues with this problem then more than likely going to to be a slave cylinder or even the master. First thing is rule out air in the system and leaks. If the fluid is full, and you can pump the pedal to get the clutch to disengage then it is prob. air. If the fluid is low and you have residual around components then it is leaking.

There could be air leak, or gear oil is thick and goo like and needs to be changed.

usually if the clutch is wearing out or leak, there is spongyness but can still shift a while. If tranny suddently stops, then a syncro or throwout beairng may be stuck

Change the automatic transmission fluid and filter. A dirty or sticking valve body can cause problems shifting. Also, check the fluid level. too much or too little can cause shifting problems also.

The first thing you do is verify the trans is full and the fluid is clean, look under the truck for evidence of a drive shaft seal leak at tail shaft of trans, the fluid level must be checked when the trans is at least 185 F, top it off as ness, if you still continue to have problems suggest you replace the fluid and the filter and see if that helps. I also suggest you have the system tested for trouble codes, this is an electronic controlled trans, here is how you run the test of the system, go to the link.

Need to know what 5 speed transmissions will interchange with a 92 ranger with a 3.0

You didn't mention if it was 2 or 4 wheel drive so I went with a 2 wheel drive. According to hollander the 5 speed transmaaion fits a ranger (2WD) 1991 - 1994 and a Mazda B3000 1994 only. Hope this helps.....

Wont disengage out of 4 wheel drive 1998 ford ranger first time its stuck in 4 low we have backed up turned switch numerous times shut it off and restarted

Be sure to put the truck in neutral, while engine is running, while you disengage from 4 wheel drive (low) to 4 wheel drive (high) and then finally to 2 wheel drive. It is critical to shift transmission into neutral when switching out of 4WD Low, as indicated in your owner's manual. Hopefully, this will help to FixYa problem!

Start truck shift into neutral. Push button for 2 wheel or 4 wheel high. Should go into that range. If not you have other issues to discuss with us.

Will a 87 ford ranger v6 4 wheel drive trans. fit in a 86 ford ranger 4 cyl 4 wheel drive

If automatic transmission wont work engine block's are not the same, if stander transmission you could swap out bell housing held on with four bolt's from one to the other. Good luck and hope this was very helpful.

Sometimes this works, ABS light on, check engine light on, speedometer not working, and the automatics start shifting hard or not shifting at all? One bolt and the part is cheap, its weird how one part controls so much.

'94 Ford Ranger XLT Manual Transmission Problem?

For the information given, and assuming forr a 94 it has a bunch of miles, I would bet on a slipping clutch along with a pressure plate that is glazed over. I doubt the transfer case, that's just a chain drive mechanism with nothing much to slip in there. In 2 wheel drive the transfer case drives pretty much straight through and shouldn't add to the problem.

If the clutch has over 80K on it, replace and resurface the pressure plate at the same time.

Does the clutch pedal have about 1/4" of play before it begins to engage? If not adjust the clutch play 1st and see if that helps.

Let me know if you have a further symptoms to share.
