Question about Ford Ranger
I would start with the check engine light.. GO to your local auto parts store and have it scanned for codes (that will help to start pointing us where we need to look) it is free and most of them have the scanners. What year is your ranger and is the speedo working right now? I only ask becasuse if its a newer truck the computer tells the trans when to shift based on the speed sensor, speedometer, trans temp etc.. If any of these is not registering it will have harsh abrupt shifts Also when it starts to shift how does it go through all gears and if so when you let off the gas does it downshift immediately? I need a little more infor as it could be a number of things up to and leading to the tranny itself. I would also check the fluid level.
