Question about 1999 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

My 1993 intrepid has 96,000 ml on it and today i came to a stop and the car no longer go forward nor would it go in R. If i shut the car off and waited a minute it would "bang"into gear and go 15 feet. Is my tranny gone or could it be a filter or modulator of some kind?

Our car shuts off when I come to a stop after it runs for a while. Both the radiator and fan were replaced. As well as fuel injectors, pcv valve and basic tune up.

Are you saying the engine overheats and then shuts off ?
Did you replace the thermostat and is the radiator full of coolant ?

97 intrepid shut off fine last night, today will

sounds like a fuel pump or maybe check on the asd relay or fuel pump relay try taking them off and tap on them then try to start if no start sounds like a fuel pump or timing belt issue. good luck

2004 Dodge Intrepid Check Engine Light & Bad Fuel Mileage

If it has never had plugs changed, i would suggest it. It can make a big difference.

Labor time is .8 hrs + 6 plugs = $80 - $150.

Take your car to a parts place and they will usually check and clear your light for free.

Firestone likes to up-sell everything, $650 is way too much for a basic tune up.

Air conditioning compressor is disconnected and waiting for a rebuilt on , today at a stop light car was idleing and water gauge went to hot and some smoke came out, let car cool and got it home it wa

You need to get coolant level checked first thing, and topped up as necessary to start with, then have to see what goes on with the temperature from there. Don't let it get all the way over to hot again, if you can help it. That can be costly. If at all possible, pull over & shut it off, but I suggest having that looked at before you go anywhere.
