If it is slow to turn over then that indicates a battery problem. If your battery is new it is possible for it to be bad, not likely. Your problem could be the alternator. The alternator charges the battery and runs the vehicle. So if the alternator is bad then it can no longer run the engine which would drain your battery.

have your alternator checked out.

Cant get car to crank

Check fuel pump itself to see if you can hear it cycling. If you can move down the line to fuel filter, could be clogged from sitting with bad gas, a common problem. Try turning over and spay some starting fluid to make sure you are getting spark. My guess would be clogged fuel lines. Let me know if I can help. Thanks.

My car putters and turns off when I slow down and come to a stop

start with fuel pump inside the gas tank and work your way up the fuel line...on the way you will find fuel filter and fuel injectors, all of these coud be not functioning properly or clogged.

I was driving and the car cut off. It won't start but it cranks and won't turn over.It is a 1995 Olds Cutlass Ciera SL, 6 Cylinder.

your terminology is wrong.if it cranks its turning over what you mean is it won`t start(fire up) as you said at the beginning.anyways it sounds like you could have a fuel pump problem that stop working.this happens alot.you should check for spark at the plugs to make sure its not an ignition problem.did you notice a check engine light on when it was running.if so there will be a code in the ecm and may be the cause of your problem.

My 2001 626 is slow to start when cold. Battery is new and it cranks fine, just takes about 15-20 seconds of cranking before it fires off. Car starts normally when warm and we have tried several types of...

It could be that you have picked up a batch of dirty fuel that has clogged the gauze input filter that is part of the fuel pump inside the fuel tank.

I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy. Cranks, but won`t start. Fuel is full. Engine stopped while driving. Battery light came on. Any suggestions?

the battery indicator light usually comes on after a lose of power. Sounds to me like either bad gas, clogged fuel filter or a bad fuel pump. Easiest way to check this is have someone turn the key while you stand at rear side of vehicle and listen for the whinning noise a functioning fuel pump makes as it pressurizes the system.

P.S you dont have to start vehicle to check pump. only requires turning the key to the on position. Good Luck

Car wont start

Check your starter motor, sounds like a dud winding in it. Then starter reeds to be overhauled / replaced.

Can you bump start it or is auto? If it's a stick shift you can try to bumpstart it, if it starts then its a good chance that the starter is fried.

Did it start doing this after installing the new battery?
Does it crank slow? If that's the symptom, I don't see how it could be many of the other things you listed. For example: a clogged fuel filter won't cause the starter to turn the motor slowly. Fuel filters rarely are the issue anyway.
If it's cranking fine but not starting when it's hot, start by checking electrical connections, primarily at sensors. Look for loose or corroded connections. Also, make sure the cables are clean and tight at the battery. I've seen some corrosion cause issues. Also check relays and fuses to be seated good and clean. Maybe wiggle them a little to make sure they are seated properly.
Unfortunately, electrical issues can be a pain to sort out.
