No. Nothing electronic about a bearing. The svc light will refer to a sensor problem or another issue unrelated to the bearing. Are you sure you have a bearing prob? I realize this was not a part of your question, was just wanting to cover all bases. Hope this was helpful...if so, please rate the response.

Not usually unless you're getting some extreme vibration of some sort that is enought to effect the electronics.

My 2005 ford explorer shimmies . Iput four new tires and new wheel bearings in the front whats next

Have you checked your U-joints? A bad U-joint can shake your whole vehicle. Is it possible that one of your wheels may be bent? Did you check your tie-rod ends and ball joints? Does it shimmy all of the time or at just certain speeds? If you have been off road check for mud build up on the inside of your wheels.

What major repairs can I expect for a 1996 ford explorer at 160,000 miles

If the vehicle was properly maintained, the engine and drive train should be in good working condition. Parts that are most prone to wear out would be: ball joints, control arm bushings, wheel bearings, shock absorbers, brakes, steering linkage parts. If the oil and filter were not changed at reasonable intervals, you could be looking at sludge buildup in the engine which could cause oil pressure problems and resulting wear on the internal engine bearings, which would most likely manifest itself in the form of a knock from the lower part of the engine(crankshaft/rods).

Symptoms: rattling noise coming from front end of 98 explorer, pulls at the least little bumps, eats up front tires like crazy. Doesn't feel safe driving. What I've been told already: upper and lower...

definitely sounds like a ball joint problem, bushings would not cause it to chew up tires a worn moving mechanical part would such as steering components, wheel bearings, ball joints, and believe it or not shock absorbers

2001 Explorer Sport 2WD, 4.0L Automatic. How to replace the drivers side UPPER BALL JOINT? Would this cause the brake rotor to drag on the caliper support aon turns, especially when turning in reverse?...

check the axle nut and the wheel bearing for play.the caliper bracket is mounted to the hub.the ball joint moves the top of the hub,but movement in the bearing is more likely the cause.

Has the car been in an accident? You may have to replace the upper ball joints as well. And you will have to get an alignment after that. I would get the tire set correctly before I started changing bearings. Of course it may be that the bearing is so bad that that is what is causing the wheel to lean so badly?
With the car jacked up, can you move the wheel laterally - it should be very tight.

When I had this problem on my 99 Explorer, one of the bolts for the sway bar was broken. It is a relatively easy inexpensive fix.
