The brakes on the cr-v should all be rotors, and are very easy to replace for the home mechanic.
a few tips.
brake lube- use on all metal to metal componets.
i.e. caliper, caliper slide bolts, metal backing of all the pads.
i found a great tool to depressing the caliper, found at many autoparts stores... the caliper piston should slide in smooth!
check with your local parts store for the torque on all the bolts!
don't forget to torque your wheels!
once you are done changing the componets and the car is on the ground.
Slowly pump the brake pedal at least ten times
check your fluid!
BEFORE you put in into any gear!

Hand brake doesn't work

The parking/emergency brake is always mechanical no matter what vehicle you have. The cables usually become rusted and no longer move. So, yes, you'll have to replace some if not all the cables. Usually that's enough to fix the problem as the rear brakes hydraulically are probably working fine. (Normal pedal brake use)

Here is a diagram for an 2007, it seems to only have 2 cables. Your lever to the brake cables is probably fine.

JoeYuma, find a journeyman mechanic and tell him your rotors are warped and watch him replace them. As it is 10 and who knows how many miles are on it; while you are in there put new calipers and pads in it too and take a gander at the rear brakes as well.

Do they still have a "boys town" south of the border down there?

UNLESS there is a major front end issue the most common cause of the vibration is the rotors being out of round. this is easily correct by having a brake shop resurface the rotors. also the vibration could be coming from the rear as well. the way to determine if it rear or front is the next time you brake somewhere that it usually has the vibration try applying only the parking brake instead of the brake pedal. NOTE....when making this check be sure to hold the parking brake release button to prevent lock up of the brakes. the parking brake only works the rear brakes. this will determine where it is coming from. the back brakes will have either brake drums or either brake rotors. same philosophy but different operating mechanics. either way it can all be corrected by resurfacing the rotors and/or drums

Leaking brake fluid at rear passenger '92

Hi,
Most likely a brake caliper or line. Lines are fairly cheap, calipers cost about $75 a piece if you get them discount online. Novice mechanics can do either or both replacements. DOnt buy parts from a dealer, they are 40% higher than retail. A brake shop will run you in the range of $150 to replace the caliper and pads one one axle, about $300 on both rear (replace both is recommended). Mike

I have a 1995 Hyundai excel, and brake fluid is coming out of rear brake. I haven't taken wheel yet to see if I can fix it. But looking underneath car I can see Floyd coming out of rear drum housing. Is...

If you have rear brake drums, (I think you do) it will be a wheel cylinder, or a broken brake line. The wheel cylinder is inside of the drum, and the line that goes to it will be on the inboard side.
Fixable by a novice? Hard to say, as you need to be able to bleed the brakes, after replacing the part.

The rear brake backup mechanism fell off. the spring, the part that you have to back off sometimes to remove the wheel and a sort of t shaped piece. I can't see how to replace them. I could use a diagram.

Rear brakes on Sables are more complicated then front brakes. If the rear brake unit has the parking brake attached to the side with a circular spring, then the rear brakes cannot be pressed back into place like the front ones. There is a brake tool needed to rotate the cylinder back into place. You will have to buy the tool to do this job.You can get this tool at autozone service center.--------- keep updated. Thanks.

This is just a shot on the dark but did you use a low end brake fluid as this has been known to cause braking problems.
