Have the dealership install it. they will have a tech or two that specialize in the installation and they will then be familar with the installation in case any problems pop up down the road. i know its a little more expensive but well worth it in the long run.

The oil was recently changed on my 2008 Toyota Avalon Touring model and it now shows the oil level as about 1/2 inch above the full line. Will it damage the vehicle to leave it overfilled like this?

Hi

Overfilling with oil is never a good idea as it increases the load on the oil pump, however half inch is nothing to worry about the car will burn this off over a month or so.

If you are concerened though you can just loosen the oil filter, this will allow some oil out without you having to drop all the oil again. loosen then tighten back up once eniough is out. also you know you should only ever dip your oil when the car is cold as when hot you do not get a true reading.
Hope that helps

I am installing a new engine air filter on my 2008 Toyota Avalon and am having difficulty getting the air filter compartment properly seated after putting the new air filter in place. I unlocked three...

Toyota doesn't publish instructions for that. Its checked and installed for free as a courtesy on an oil and filter replacement, at good repair shops. You took it apart, I'm sure you can figure it out. People that aren't auto mechanics, think everything's so simple.

2008 avalon limited that dies randomly esp. in reverse. Sometimes will restart, I had it towed this last time. help! dealer cannot replicate the problem as it happens randomly.

Best advice would be to leave this car with the dealer for a week or two for them to drive to see if they can replicate the problem. If the dealer is unable to fix the issue, you may have to file a complaint with Toyota. This is not a common complaint from Avalon owners that I'm aware of as of yet. Start keeping a detailed journal of when (dates and times) and EXACTLY what you are doing when this happens. With it dying randomly, I would say its a big safety issue... call the dealer for a tow every time it happens.
