2000 ford taurus heater not working. What can be wrong?

It sounds very much like the heater control door (inside the heater box) is sticking in one position or the other. It's intended to direct air through either the AC's evaporator or the heater core, depending upon whether you want heat or cooling.

Assuming (highly likely) that the control door is vacuum-operated, you may have a vacuum leak anywhere from the engine to the heater box inside the passenger compartment, via the heater control unit.

Blower works no heat on 1999 Ford Taurus

Check the heater hoses that go into the firewall to the heater core, they both should be hot,if only one is hot and the other isn't,then the core is plugged. Remove the hoses at the firewall, buy of hose the same diameter, buy enough length so that you can flush away from the engine compartment, install it on one of the heater core pipes, using a garden hose with a jet sprayer slowly blast water into the hose, until you see clean water coming out from the other pipe. Remove the hose and install it on the other pipe of the heater core and repeat the process, you may have to do it several times to completely unplug it. This is a typical problem with a 3.0, 2 valve taurus, coolant looks brown and rusty. The entire cooling system should be flushed, if it isn't the heater core will plug again.

My 2000 ford taurus heater stoped working. it seemed to blow out warm air then went cold. what should I do?

Mine did the same thing, except here it is very cold. I took it to a radiator specialist, and what he did was nothing short of genius. First he disconnected the hoses to the rad, heater core and engine, and then flushed each seperately. Then he reassembled it all, put in fresh antifreeze (50/50 mix) and restricted the crossover at the heater core. Now, in -20 celsius, it's so hot in the car I turn the heat almost off. I am not kidding. This is the only way to go as the cooling system gets plugged from short haul driving, sediments in the cooling system, etc. Cost me about $150.00. I am very mechanically adept, but I went and had a professional do it. Best choice.
Good Luck.

2000 ford taurus air from heater gets cooler when fan speed is turned up did a flush put in new thermostat, did not help

You have to disconnect the heater hoses right at the heater core and flush the core by it self. I have done this numerous times with good results.

I have an air lock in my 1998 ford taurus se radiator .it seems like after a couple of minutes having warm air it begins to get cool again

Sounds more like a clogged heater core than an "air lock".

Flush the cooling system - twice!! with a decent cooling system cleaner - and be sure that the heater is on full heat when doing it.

I bet that you see a great improvement in performance!!

Heater not working also leaks antifreeze already changed the thermostat no help no warm air

where does it leak from ? if it has a leak that is why you have no heat. air is getting in to the cooling system.
