Replace of air pump (smog pump?) on 05 chevy trailblazer

I have a 2005 Chevy trailblazer, my engine light went on and through on star they ran a diagonistic and send it was an emissions problem. I did some checking at the local auto parts store and was informed that it was either the diverter valve or air pump (smog pump?), after calling the dealership and finding out the enormous price they would charge to replace the air pump, I checked around and found it cheaper and found someone to replace it cheaper. However before I spend the money to replace I was wondering if there was a way to indeed know it was the air pump. Also don't know if there is a connection but prior to the engine light going on the vehicle started to make a high pitched wine...the wine is still persistent especially when the rpms increase.

SOURCE: emissions isue

Sounds like they want to cover all bases. When the truck is first started you should hear the pump run. If it does you don't need the pump. While the engine is running remove the hose from the check vavle, exhaust should not be coming out of the tube, if it does the check valve is bad. There is also a vacuum hose going to the check valve , make sure it is hooked up. It's not to hard to diagnose this code. Pumps are approx. $150.00 Check valves around $80.00

SOURCE: Electrical low-beam headlight wire on 02 Chevy Trailblazer burnt

Get yourself to a junkyard and pack yourself a light lunch while you're at it. Take a leisurely stroll through the junk that closely resembles the one you need parts for. Go to the closest wiring harness to the headlight assembly, take your time and don't go trying to **** it, and unplug it from the bulbs up front. Make a simple and straight forward swap and do take the time to stop and smell the junkers, it's quite relaxing! Then, you should seriously make sure your new wiring harness is properly grounded (!), which I suspect to have been a contribing factor to your problem of overheating the bulb socket. Do take the time to go over the stuff that should be grounded and make it so. Th e job is quite simple and well worth you taking the time to do it yourself.

SOURCE: I have a 2006 Chevy

***IMPORTANT INFORMATION YOU MUST READ*****

Ok everyone, listen up....If you have a 04 and newer silverado, with a failed evap vent solenoid, you have to read this info. Do not pay $100+ for this part(actually $150.00 at the dealer). The following part numbers associated with this part have been gm#19207763,19152349, and AC DELCO #'s 214-2082 costing over $100.00 for the modified part. This is for the modified part, with the relocation of the filterbox, and the added hose that seperates the two. No one at Gm will tell you this, but this same part, that was origionally on your silverado, is also used in the 2006 Suburban. It will be an identical replacement for what is ON YOUR TRUCK, and the cost is $24.04 AT THE DEALER. I know this because I own a 2006 silverado, and a 2006 suburban. Looked at the suburban when the part went bad on the silverado(from overfilling the tank)and bingo, same part. Ask a parts person at GM, and they will tell you otherwise, but they are lying to you. Bought the suburban part today part # 25932571 (GM #) and everything is identical, right down to the numbers stamped on the part itself. Took the part off my silverado, put the replacement on (which gm told me is not the right part), cleared the codes, and bingo no more light after 3 consecutive starts...... Why, is it that GM feels we need to pay the price for something they did wrong???? And moreso, lie to us, telling us the $150.00 part is our only choice to fix the problem. My truck went 40K miles with the origional part, and probably only went bad because of my own stupidity in overfilling the tank, whay would I not just want to spend $24.00 to put on the same part, that will probably go the rest of the life of the truck with no tank overfills???? I say CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR EVERYONE THAT HAS BEEN SCAMMED INTO PAYING THE RIDICULOUS PRICE that GM is trying to **** out of us.....Please pass this on to the world, and every forum you can...Get the word out....Let the parts people at GM know we are on to their BS, and they can't take advantage of us like they have.....

I have a 2005 chevy trailblazer with a 6 cyl. engine. The check engine light is on and the car cuts off when you turn the air on. What could be the problem and how do i solve it.

When tha "check engine" light is turn on, some fault code is stored in the computer and just is warning about this; you will need to scanned the computer to know exactly what fault code is there.

Could be some vacuum problem, air intake sensors or other emission codes. With this code number could send you additional details.
