COOLANT LEAK - MID -ENGINE 2.4L 99 GRAND AM SE

I HAVE A 99 GRAND SE 2.4L. IT HAS DEVELOPED A COOLANT LEAK THAT I'M HAVING TROUBLE LOCATING. IT LEAKS FROM SOMEWHERE THAT ENDS UP DRIPPING OFF THE FRONT OF OIL PAN A LITTLE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE OF CENTER. I HAVE CHECKED HOSES AS BEST I CAN & CAN'T FIND THE CULPRIT. THERE WAS A SMALL AMOUNT OF COOLANT PRESENT AT HEATER HOSE BYPASS BUT IT WAS NOT DRIPPING. LEAKS WHETHER MOTOR IS RUNNING OR NOT AND IS A CONSTANT DRIP
EVERY 5 WHEN RUNNING TO 20 SECONDS AFTER BEING SHUT DOWN. THE CHILTON BOOK THAT I HAVE FOR THE CAR CONTAINS NO PICTURES REALLY OF THAT AREA OF THE MOTOR AND IS ALL BUT USELESS OTHER THAN PROBABLY DESCIBING HOW TO FIX IT ONCE I'VE FOUND IT.

HERE'S HOPING YOU CAN HELP,

BERT.

99 dodge grand caravan se is overheating about every 5 miles I continually put antifreeze in it but won't stop. Also no heat.

Sounds like a coolant leak, common problems on the caravan are water pump or radiator. No heat is due to low coolant.

If it is leaking out that fast is should be pretty easy to see where it is leaking from. Find the leak, repair the leak and your problem should be solved.

Our 2004 Isuzu Rodeo has developed a coolant leak. The leak appears to be around or above a little panel or plate immediately behind the oil pan? Cannot find any other source. What is inside the littl

You will have to clarify behind the oil pan. Front of engine towards fan. Rear of engine transmission side. Or above the pan towards engine side. If there is coolant leaking from behind the engine (between the engine and trans) and is not running down from above eg head gasket or hose connection, chances are good that there is a frost plug leaking on the rear of the block.

99 Grand Am Smoke Exhaust

I'm sorry to say your engine may be cooked.
Since you are adding both oil and coolant, and the color of the smoke is gray or white, you have the signs of the engine burning coolant.
The common cause is a leaking head gasket.

I have a 2004 grand am se. I continuely have to check and add coolant to resevoir. Why?

Your adding coolant frequently due to a leak some where in the cooling system or engine. It may be leaking in the form of steam overtime or leaking internally/externally from the engine. A coolant pressure test should be performed to isolate where this leak is coming from.

Heat is blowing cold air and temp gauge is all over the place. I have a 99 rage rover se

this is cauased by a low coolant level in the engine or a leaking engine cylinder head gasket, has this been checked?

I have a 2001 grand am v6 that I have to add coolant every few days. The engine is running a normal temp, and the cooling fans are working.

There are only 3 possibilities:
1) Coolant is leaking on the ground - puddle under the car.
2) Coolant is leaking into the engine crankcase - engine oil is "milky" looking.
3) Coolant is burned during combustion process - defective head gasket or intake gasket.
Let me know what you find and we will go from there.

Leaking coolant by pass.side-middle close to firewall. eng.temp gets hot

Sounds like the water pump, it will fling coolant as it leaks when the engine is running, also check the heater hoses and if coolant seems to come from the bottom of car and not the engine then it is a heater core leak.

1999 grand am

'99 Grand Am have a plastic water outlet located on the back of the engine. (Same side as the battery). It is installed using a thin O-ring. Antifreeze is corrosive and weakens the O-ring causing a leak. Because of the location the leak can be almost undetectable. Replace the O-ring, but becareful not to break the water outlet.
