Have your battery checked. Will it jump start? if so drive to a parts stoer and they will check your battery.

00 Explorer 4.0 ohv v6. If cam position sensor fails will it cause, #1 engine to die at hwy speed 60mph? Also upon trying to restart, it cranks very fast, is that poss. cam sensor failure too? Thanks

No, to the second question- sensor won't make it crank any different. Faster than normal cranking often means a broken timing belt -less friction with the valve train not moving, so engine spins faster. But you have a timing chain, right? Any engine noise when it quit at 60mph? You could watch some valve action through the oil filler cap while the engine is being cranked, to make sure the timing chain is still intact.
If all is good, check for spark and gas to the engine. If stopped while running, it could be a failed fuel pump or a problem in the ignition system- cam or crank sensor, ignition coil, ignition control module, some of the things to check if no spark.

Engine stslls while driving usualy starts back up. now wont start .have fuel, new throttle position sensor, idle air control, sounds like pump is getting, help????

you don`t say how you know it has fuel. did you check the fuel pressure with a gage and did you check the fuel volume as well. this sounds like a fuel pump problem.

Vehicle starts runs for 1-2 minutes then quits, Starts right up. Fuel is being shut down.

Also what no one is mentioning is to make sure you have oil pressure, or that the oil pressure sensor is working, alot of newer vehicles run the fuel pumps off of them oil pressure sensor so if your vehicle stops pumping oil and lubricating, it shuts the fuel pump off to protect itself from damage or further damage

My 1996 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 keeps stalling while driving. Try to start and it won't start (No Spark) and the Fuel Pump has no hum. Leave it sit for hours, go back and it will start.

Could be the camshaft or crankshaft position sensors. They are known to fail intermittently (crankshaft sensors more often) like that. When they fail it's like someone just turns the vehicle off, whenever you happen to be. And it can take from a few minutes to hours or days before it will start again.

Oxygen sensor

Yes, O2 sensor may sometimes lead to engine stalling. But also make sure that the MAF sensor is working properly. Better check for codes if the CEL is blinking.

Chevrolet Cavalier 2004 quits running while driving down the highway.

need to check fuel pressure, not just listen for pump to run, also check reading on coolant temp sensor, but sounds like fuel pump /filter issue. just because you hear pump run doesnt mean its putting our right amount of pressure. also check for plugged catylic convertor

A simple check for one of the most common causes of the problem you
described, is to watch the tachometer while cranking. If it does
not indicate the RPM and the needle sits near zero, the Crank Shaft
Position Sensor is bad. It is very easy to change.

When they are in the process of quitting entirely, they act like
they are heat sensitive and usually will allow you to drive 5 to 8
miles before quitting. Let the engine cool for an hour and it will
start and run for another 3 to 6 miles because it warmed up
quicker.

check fuel pump relay in boot make sure you hear the pump
charge the system when the key is turned to position 2, if not
sound check relay if sound check CPS or moisture in TPS base of
throttle body also check and clean all connectors under the
bonnet/hood on the engine.

Jeep won't start until a clicking sound comes from fuse box

The click you hear is the fuel pump relay. It gets its signal to energize from the PCM.If you have a faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor, the PCM will not work. Check for a bad fuel pump relay and also all of the other sensors: Camshaft Position Sensor, MAP Sensor, Idle air Control, Intake Air Sensor, etc.
