What they are saying is you may have a bad switch and to test it the second mentioned is how to bypass the switch by putting power directly to the motor in the door. Most people find the regulator itself need replaced in the door. If you dont understand what they mean try and go to and to look at some good how to's with photos on how to help your cars issues.

Can a bad fuse be the problem if only one window doesnt work? seems like there is no power getting to the left rear window where is the fuse located for the drivers side rear window switch?

Most likely the switch assembly for that side. My son had the same issue with his
81 Mercedes. These switches are special as they feed power from front window
switch to the rear window switch and is sold as an assembly. may carry it for you.

Nope 1 fuse controls all the windows. Either its the switch or the window regulators themselves or due to the age the wiring.

My window switch has gone bad. how do i jump it to make windows go up and down?

The switch block can be pried out of the console with a screwdriver applied to the rear end of the block. Individual switches are not replaceable; the block is replaced as a whole. The lines connect to the block in a connector plug. Jumping them in a convertible is easier than in the other cars, as there is no lockout for the rear windows in the centre console switch. Your best option is to bite the bullet and replace the switch block either from an on-line source such as eEuroparts for about $200 US, or a wrecker.

Lines 18 & 19 are for the left front window,
lines 6 & 7 are for the right front window,
lines 13 & 14 are for the left rear,
lines1 & 2 are for the right rear, and
line 9 is the lock-out for the rear windows; I believe positive voltage applied constantly to this line locks out the rear windows, so leaving it un-powered won't hurt.

Polarity determines whether the window goes up or down; a trial and error situation. Use this info to get them up, then replace the switch block!

Hey. 84 mercedes, My sunroof & driver side

I'm no expert, just a tinkerer, but I recently had the same problem with a couple of window switches and emergency flasher. I replaced the switches. It was cheap a easy. I got the switches from autohausAZ for about $30 each (local Benz dealer wanted $180, NAPA wanted $50 but were out). Carefully slip a thin but sturdy blade beneath the tab at one end of the switch (about 1/8inch) and then the same with the other--a bent spring clip holds the switch in. Once you've got the clips loose, the switch pulls right out.

No power to electric windows and interior courtesy lights

This is a common problem, but I've never seen a window regulator go bad in a Mercedes, the problem is probably the switch, you can check his by removing both working and nonworking window switches from the console, and plug in the other side or rear to roll the windows up/down,you will need to disassemble the switch that does not work and clean it well then, it will work again I've done it to my Mercedes

1988 Mercedes Benz - 300E , want to replace window switch

Hello, To the rear of the wood grain where the switches are, you should have a small piece of carpet that you just pull up and get it out of the way. You should see 1 screw. Remove the screw and gently pull up on the back of the wood grain. Now you will be able to change the switch.
I hope this helps.

Passenger window

There is a switch on the console between the drivers window switch and the drivers side rear window switch. These windows are fused right front-left rear and left front-right rear. The switches go bad quite often and that could be your problem.
