It will be near the oil filter, on the side of the engine block. A large brass "nut" with a wire attached to it.

Where is oil sending unit located?

You're vehicle has two sensors for the oil,an oil pressure sensor switch & oil pressure sensor. If oil pressure gets below 6psi,the oil pressure sensor switch will turn a dash light on to let you know the pressure is at a dangerously low amount. So if you've got a dash light on,the pressure sensor switch needs to be replaced. Its located to the right of the oil filter housing,on a 2.0 liter. Its located to the left of the oil filter housing,on the 3.0 liter.
If your oil pressure gauge is reading inaccurately, you need to replace the oil pressure sensor instead. Its located near the ac compressor.

The o/d light flashes for a little while then goes off, has a slight **** when backing

flashing oil light is an indication of low oil pressure or a bad oil pressure sending unit, a shop can hook a tester up to the engine to determine what it is.

The engine stopped while driving on 2003 Ford escape. Oil light, check engine light and the battery light came on

oil, check engine and battery will always be on when the engine is dead--because there's no oil pressure, nor battery charging. A faulty oil pressure sending would never prevent the engine from starting. You'll have to tow it to a shop to find out why

Where is the oil pressure switch at on a 2003 ford escape

Hello,

The oil pressure switch is on the front left hand side of the engine. But the sending unit is on the right hand side of the engine, that is the passenger side. Behind the AC compressor.

Hope This was helpful. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

2001 ford escape.. oil light comes on when at a stop and in drive. when i give it the gas the light turns off. i checked my oil, brake, coolant and tranny fliuds and are all fine????? no funny sounds????

this light is indicating your engine has low oil pressure sensed at idle, have the oil pressure checked with a special mechanical oil gauge, if the oil pressure checks ok then just replace the oil pressure sending unit, do this ASAP, if u do really have low pressure u can damage the engine bearings, a very expensive fix.

Oil light, noisy engine

If engine is noisy then you have an actual oil pressure concern.Sending unit only reads the pressure. I would recommend you have an actual oil pressure test done to see what your oil pressure is.You didn't mention what engine you have but rule of thumb is 30 psi at 1500 rpm warm engine.
