I need to replace the abs sensor on a 1995 Chevy

I need to replace or clean the abs sensor on a 1995 Chevy Suburban k1500. The hub bolts that hold the dust shield on seem to be 14.5mm. Is this true? 15mm is sloppy 14mm doesn't fit. Any other tips for me?

I'd guess that it is actually a 9/16" wrench or socket size.

9/16" = 0.5625 inches
14 mm = 0.5511
14.5 mm = 0.5709
15 mm = 0.5906

Since I am not familiar with a 14.5 mm wrench size, I'd guess it is not metrix but rather SAE/English size wrench.

No way are they 14.5 mm. Try an SAE socket instead of metric. I think you will find that a 9/16 is the correct size.

gm is known for their anti-lock brake problems the most likely problem is a build up under the sensor since u have a 93 the abs sensor is incorporated into the hub cheaper to replace the hub w/sensor than to just replace the sensor the hub is not that hard to replace in the 2wd or 4wd----to clean mount jack up vehicle remove the wheel brake caliper, caliper bracket ,rotor and the abs sensor will be in view check the connection and the condition of sensor into the hub if lot of road grime or rust build up use a brush to clean area around sensor than using an allen key remove sensor careful pull straight up plug hole and clean small mounting plate replace sensor ------to replace hub do same in removing components but than need to unbolt hub from rear on 4wd also need to remove cv drive nut replace hub and done

Where is the ABS sensor on a 2001 chevy silverado 4x4 truck/

this sensor is is built into the hub bearing, the bearing must be replaced to replace the abs sensor, 99% of sensor fault is due to worn bearing. the sensor is on the hub follow the abs wire to sensor from wheel area, some model sensor is bolted into bearing and can be replaced with bearing, make sure there is no play in wheel or new sensor will go bad, heres a picture of the complete hub and also of just the sensor. note there are four sensors one on each wheel, a scan tool will tell you which one is bad.good day.johnjohn2_116.jpgjohnjohn2_117.jpg

I need to replace the abs speed sensor on a 1999 chevy malibu 3.1 engine on the drivers side after the abs wire leaves the the hub bearing assembly wheres does it go and how do i replace it from the...

The abs sensor is part of the bearing. the wire goes to the abs module. the speed sensor is mounted on the backside of the transmission, passenger side. The speed sensor ha s one bolt that holds it in. The abs sensor, you will have to remove the strut bolts , the tierod arm, the caliper and the bracket that holds it, remove the rotor, remove the big nut that holds the cv axle the the hub. Push the cv axle out, and there are 3 bolts to remove to get the bearing out. once you get the bolts out you can knock the bearing out with a hammer. Look where the wire is, as it needs to go back in the same location. Also follow the wire up and you will find a disconnect plug attacvhed to the fender well.

Just replaced pads and rotors all four on a 2002 1500hd. now when braking at slow speeds the brakes go into abs mode and start pumping. Why?

There is a tech service bulletin on this problem. The front ABS sensors that bolt into the hub assembly builds up corrosion and rust under the tab that holds in the sensor. So what is recommended is take the bolt out of the sensor flag hold down wiggle the sensor loose and pull out, then clean the hub housing .There is to much air gap between the sensor end and the tone ring for the abs.I hope this helps P.S you did nothing wrong.

I'd be checking the sensor (ABS) at that wheel, (right front) and adjusting rear brakes to proper clearance, as well as inspect them for proper operation with wheels off.

2001 Chevy Silverado anti-lock brakes activate on dry pavement, the pedal pulsates, the typical anti-lock brake sound is heard, and the truck feels like it is not going to stop at times

One of the sensors has gone bad and needs to be replaced, the other thing to that would also do that is the ABS sensor is dirty or needs to be re gaped to the speed ring on the hub. There was a issue bulletin with your Tahoe on the ABS activating under 8 km/h. Good luck and hope this helps, if not clean out the sensor with brake parts cleaner and check the wire harness and ABS sensor bracket. Re gap the sensor to the speed ring hub. Here is the bulletin. Abs sensors

If its the front sensors, you have to remove the backing plate to get to the sensors.Alot of time you have rust building up between the hub and the sensor, which pushes the sensor away from bearing and thinks its on a slippery surface. You need to clean that rust out from between sensor and hub. There are three bolts holding hub and backing plate in place, you have to remove these things to get to sensor.Hope this helps.
