Air mass sensor car will not pick up speed under load,garage told me it was the air mass sensor,does anyone know the part number and where i can get one from?

idle control valve will need cleaning, also the mass air flow as well ( mas air flow cleaner only recommended) and the air temp sensor. may need cleaning or replacing, it could also be the spark plugs or leads. it could also need the egr cleaning as well, and sometimes it can be from were you get your fuel. if the garage you get your fuel from when its rain and you fill up and then have problems there could be water in the fuel as some garages don't know that ground water is getting into the tanks under ground.

Our 2003 Tracker is dying at slow speeds. Thought it was the OD button, but no. Have had a garage tell me it is the Mass air flow sensor, and another tell me the car doesn't have one. Now we're told that...


Both of those problems can be caused by a dirty air filter. Also if you haven't replace the fuel filter, I would look in to doing that. 02 sensors don't usually make an engine die, they will cause crappy gas mileage. Does the vehicle have any codes?

You will need to replace the injector that is over the number 5 cylinder asap. this explains the missing. the injector is faulty.

2002 Kia Sedona- Mass Air Flow Sensor problems


i had the same problem my car keep seting the code for the mass air flow sensor. i put on 3 of the. and it was not the mass air flow sensor. i had a bad set of plug wires that was making the car set a mass air flow sensor code. my car fine now after a year. make you sure you use kia plugs. if you need anymore help let me know.

They might be refering to the MAP Sensor. A manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP) is one of the sensors used in an internal combustion engine's electronic control system. Engines that use a MAP sensor are typically fuel injected. The manifold absolute pressure sensor provides instantaneous manifold pressure information to the engine's electronic control unit (ECU). This is necessary to calculate air density and determine the engine's air mass flow rate, which in turn is used to calculate the appropriate fuel flow. (See stoichiometry.)
An engine control system that uses manifold absolute pressure to calculate air mass uses the speed-density method. Engine speed (RPM) and air temperature are also necessary to complete the speed-density calculation. Not all fuel-injected engines use a MAP sensor to infer mass air flow; some use a MAF (mass air flow) sensor. Several makes use the MAP sensor in OBD II applications to test the EGR valve for functionality. Most notably General Motors uses this approach.
Contents How the MAP value is used The manifold absolute pressure measurement is used to meter fuel. The amount of fuel required is directly related to the mass of air entering the engine. (See stoichiometric.) The mass of air is proportional to the air density, which is proportional to the absolute pressure and inversely proportional to the absolute temperature. (See ideal gas law.) Engine speed determines the frequency, or rate, at which air mass is leaving the intake manifold and entering the cylinders.
(Engine Mass Airflow Rate) ˜ RPM × (Air Density) or equivalently (Engine Mass Airflow Rate) ˜ RPM × MAP / (absolute temperature) They could also be refering to the fuel pressure sensor. If so, then yes this also can cause the problem. You shoud have your fuel pressure checked for about $34.00. If you have a bad fuel pressure regulator you will need to change it out. If it remains undelt with then it could take out your fuel pump. Most fuel pumps are located and installed in the top of your fuel tank and are submerged into your tank. It needs the fuel to keep it cool, but if you continually keep your fuel under 1/4 of a tank you will drastically reduce the life of your fuel pump. Fuel pumps can be expensive to replace. I replaced my wifes in her 1997 Chevy Blazer and it cost me $350.00 (lifetime warrenty). If you keep your gas under a 1/4 of a tank most of the time and your pump is found to b bad then you need to opt for the LIFETIME replacement pump. You only want to have to pay for the pump once, believe me. Otherwise you really haven't provided enough of the symptoms to go on. Does it shut off when you are at speed, or stall when at a stop? If it stalls when you come to a stop you could have bad Oxygen sensor(s). If it's the oxygen sensor(s) then you should replace all of them.

P-0102 and P-0113 are mass air flow and intake air temp codes, the P-0136 is an Oxygen sensor code. Before you do anything, check for debris in the Mass Air Flow Sensor, it's small black box with electrical wiring connector that is screwed into the intake air tube, between the air box and the intake manifold. Undo the screws, remove the sensor, and, with a flashlight, and look down inside it for debeis, or broken wires inside it. If it's dirty, it could throw a P-0136...Comment back on what you find; hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa!

Chances are the coolant temperature sensor or its wiring have failed, or the vacuum line to the MAP sensor is leaky or broken (I believe the V12 in '89 guise uses MAP sensors). The MAP sensor measures Manifold Absolute Pressure. Along with this pressure the ECU looks at engine RPM. It also measures air temperature. Knowing pressure and temperature we know density, and knowing engine speed tells us how much volume of air is going through the engine. All of this together is computed into air mass and is used to calculate how much fuel mass should be admitted. If the vacuum line is broken, the ECU reads less vacuum and produces rich mixture thinking that the engine is under high load.
