Question about 2006 Nissan Altima

1 Answer

I recently cleaned the throttle body and was running the vehicle and noticed that one of the hoses coming from the radiator was leaking. i forgot to secure the clamp. Since then it has been idling irratic while in park and nuetral gear positions. I refilled the coolant because it was a little lower than usual and it seemed to have helped a little. Can you help?

Cleaning thte throttle body is a bad idea on those cars, it has an electronic throttle chamber most likely it needs idle volume learning done with a dealer scan tool or possibly throttle body replacement now.

The vehicle reads DTC P0506 and the air bag and ETS OFF lights are on. What's wrong?

Check to see if there is any hoses disconnected causing vacuum leaks. This will cause a stall and idle issue. Make sure there are no electrical plugs disconnected or loose in the area you were working. If all ok, what did you use to clean throttle plate? Only carb cleaner I would hope

My 2002 Ford Explorer just suddenly started idling very high

You have no local repair shop, to check it out?

No vehicle experience? Never work on them?

I would check for codes & look at scan tool data first

You won't have that capability

What can you do ?

Well, try cleaning the throttle body with CRC Throttle Body Cleaner
follow the instructions on back of can

If it was at a shop recently ,they surely helped put the problem in there with sloppy work,so check the intake ducting from the air

When engine is running it sounds like a air leak around the throttle body. Changed the throttle body gasket and it still does it. It also has no power when you press on the gas.

Sounds like there may be a vacuum leak. You may be able to pin-point it listening through an old, wiped clean of course, radiator hose, small length of old garden hose. Good luck.

My 2006 Hyundai sonata reading on a code reader P2118, P2119, P2110

P2118 - Electronic Throttle Control(ETC) system is made of the components throttle body, Throttle Position Sensor(TPS)1&2 and Accelerator Position Sensor(APS) 1&2. The throttle body contains the actuator, the throttle plate and the throttle position sensor (potentiometer), which are integrated in one housing. The actuator consists of a DC motor with a two-stage gear. The opening angle of the throttle valve is detected by the throttle position sensor which is mounted on the throttle body. And it provides feedback to the ECM to control the throttle motor in order to control the throttle valve opening angle properly in response to the driving condition.

P2119 - associated

P2110 - A bulletin provides the procedure to clean the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC)
throttle body of Theta-2.0L/2.4L engine equipped vehicles. If a vehicle exhibits the
condition(s) listed below and deposits are found at the valve-to-bore interface inside the
ETC throttle body, clean the throttle body using the procedure described in this bulletin.

This throttle body cleaning procedure should be performed when diagnosing
the conditions listed below. Do not replace the throttle body prior to performing
this procedure.

Any of the following conditions may be caused by throttle body deposits:
• No start (due to throttle valve stuck closed or air flow signifcantly restricted)
• Rough idle or fluctuating engine speed at idle (due to air flow restriction)
• MIL "On" with DTC P2118 or P2119 occurring along with P2110:
• P2118: Throttle Actuator Control Motor Current Range/Performance
• P2119: Throttle Actuator Control Throttle Body Range/Performance
• P2110: Throttle Actuator Control System-Forced Limited Power

It seems CLEAR you have a STICKING butterfly plate in the throttle body.

1998 cadillac deville leaking coolant, temperature was around 196 and when leaking started temperature has gone as high as 225, what is causing this problem?

This most certainly sounds like a water pump issue. The thermostate is located inside the water pump housing and if the pump is bad you'l lose fluids and need to add every day or so. The temp guage will run hot and often the heater won't warm up. You have even notice fluids on the ground below the front passenger side of the car. Try getting a pressure test first before replacing anything. That's a good place to start the diagnosis.

When i start the engine it will run at about 3000rpm .i checked the cables at the carb and the gas.what else could it be pedal

Check for vacuum leaks. Check PCV hose and other vacuum hoses. Spray carb cleaner around intake, throttle body and vacuum hoses while idling in park. If spraying anywhere causes a change in idle. that area has a vacuum leak.
Possible IAC motor dirty or defective. Remove it. Clean the IAC plunger tip and the throttle body passages with air intake/throttle body cleaner spray can. Reassemble and start vehicle.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE THERMOSTAT ON A 1998 CHEVROLET LUMINA 3.1

FIRST OF ALL YOU HAVE TO DRAIN SOME COOLANT.JUST ENOUGH SO COOLANT WONT FLOW ALL OVER ENGINE.AND COOLANT TO EXPENSIVE ON THE GROUND.TO GET TO THERMOSTAT.YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT CONNECTORS TO MAF EGR IDLE SPEED CONTROL AND IAT SENSOR.. REMOVE THROTTLE AND SHIFT CABLES FROM BRACKET.REMOVE AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY WITH MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR.REMOVE BOTTOM PORTION OF AIR FILTER HOUSING.REMOVE COOLANT HOSES FROM THROTTLE BODY.THEN REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY.YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT SMALL COOLANT HOSE TOP WATER PUMP.REMOVE SMALL BOLT THAT HOLDS METAL COOLANT LINE TO WATER PUMP.THIS LINE HAS TO BE MOVE JUST ENOUGH SO YOU CAN REMOVE THROTTLE BODY.ONCE THROTTLE BODY OUT THE WAY YOU CAN REMOVE THERMOSTAT.BESURE WHEN YOU PUT EVERYTHING BACK TOGETHER.REPLACE THROTTLE GASKET AND THE COOLANT HOSES COME OFF THROTTLE BODY BESURE TO USE OLD COOLANT HOSES MEASUREMENTS FOR NEW HOSES MEASUREMENTS MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE CURVE HOSE FOR THROTTLE BODY. DONT TRY TO USE STRAIGHT HOSE IT WILL KINK AND CAUSE NO COOLANT FLOW.WHEN YOU ARE DONE.FILL COOLANT BACK TO CORRECT LEVEL AND BLEED COOLANT SYSTEM.
