Question about 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

1 Answer

I have a whining noise under the hood. It gets louder when the RPM goes up. I checked under the hood and it doesn't seem to be coming from the power steering pump, the air conditioning compressor or the alternator. It seems to be coming from the front center of the engine. I think it is the water pump, but I'm not 100 percent sure. Does this sound right?

It may be the belt that connects to the alternator..either it is loose or may need tightening.

My 2005 Chrysler town & country is making a whining noise and gets louder when I accelerate. Also my light is on for rear defroster, but it doesn't defrost. Help!!!!!!

If the whining noise is coming from under the hood, have all pulleys checked for wear. ( Alternator/tensioner/idler etc ). A bad pulley will whine. As for the rear defrost, check the wires that go to the back window. There will be one on each side of the rear glass. One may be seperated/broken from the glass causing the defrost not to operate

Open the hood. Listen for where the noise is coming from. Fix the thing that is making the noise.

Whining noise when step on gas

Sounds like the power steering pump. check the fluid level. Have someone listen under the hood while you are turning the steering wheel. If the whine gets louder, your pump could be the issue.

Whining humming noise under hood

If the engine is not reaching optimum operating temperature it will indeed give you a "check engine light",the code will lean you in that direction as well. The noise your hearing more than likely is coming from the "clutch fan",they are very common on the TrailBlazers to make noise and fail. The oil light... you certainly need to have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gage.

Every time I press my gas in my car I hear this whining Noise and I'm trying to see what it is that whining noise

does the noise sound like its coming from your speakers? if so and if it gets louder with engine rpm it is called RFI (radio frequency interference) its coming from your alternator and being picked up by your radio and coming through your antenna. hope this helps.

2007 dodge ram hemi whining noise from under hood

Inspect the belts for any carbon build up (It will look like specs of glassy residue), cracking, or for proper tension. If it tends to go away at a certain rpm or after a bit of driving I'd say it's definitly a belt.

You could try to figure out what belt it is by sitting in your driveway and idling while you turn the wheels (Powersteering belt) or turn on the A/C (A/C belt). Do you notice any lose of power? This could point to the main belt that winds its way around most of the engine.

Hope this helps!
