Gas guage doen't work

HI,
It's probably WATER coming out of the exhaust as that's the result of the engine running...not a problem.

Gas gauge is separate from the pump....usually. It could be a fuse (look in the Owner's Manual for fuse location) or the fuel 'sender' which is what measures the fuel level. This is usually IN the fuel tank. Sorry I don't know where it is on your Rodeo..

Search online - Google it - for fuel sender. Remember, your Rodeo is the same as the Honda Passport for the '94-2002 model years so search under the Passport too.

TD

Isuzu problem

Had similar problem with '03 Bonneville and '04 Malibu. Research says it happens a lot. My fix was to remove the fuel pump to get to the fuel level resistor, clean up the resistor and contacts, with mildly abrasive material, and also slightly bend the contacts to allow for more pressure against the resistor. Put it all together and no more jumpy fuel gauge. It used to go from full to empty and back. The mileage computer would go nuts. Not any more.

The fuel gauge on my 1999 isuzu rodeo ls does not register

First thing is check fuel gauge fuse, then trace to connection to see if wire has came partially undone , let's hope it is not float in tank, then it's a more complex fix. Let me know on that first. Thanks mike from fixya

1999 Isuzu Rodeo: the amount of gas in truck does not register on the meter. What could the problem be.

There could be a poor connection or an open circuit between the power control module and the fuel gauge sender, or the fuel gauge sender itself is bad. The sender is mounted to the gas tank and usually can be replaced without dropping the tank.

My 1999 Isuzu Rodeos gas gauge shows empty with gas light on all the time even when full . has worked once in last week but very slow coming up

Try Replacing your gas sending unit or gas pressure sensor unit, both fairly east to replace with minimal expenses. If this does not fix the problem then change the fuel pump. But start with the gas sending unit.

Gas gage doesnt work...can't find the sensor on the 2001 izuzu rodeo

HI, the gas gauge sending unit is located inside the fuel tank. it is part of the fuel pump assembly. you will need to lower the tank to access this sending unit. replacing the sending unit will fix this issue.

Smog test will not pass

This code is send (in your case NOT SEND)
by the fuel sending unit.

Does your fuel gauge give incorrect of jumpy reading when it's full?

The quick fix is STOP TOPPING OFF the fuel tank when you are get gas.

Keep topping off will push the fuel tank float off it's sensor limit and eventually short or send OUT OF RANGE reading to the fuel gauge.

Fill your truck up to 3/4 tank full.

Drive it for 2-3 days or about 100 miles.
(this will fill the ready-ness data that DMV want)

If there is NO check engine light ON during the 2-3 days then give the smog test another shot.

DO NOT add fuel unit you complete the smog test.
===

The CORRECT method to fix your problem is to drop the gas tank and replace the fuel sending unit.

If you truck has over 140,000 miles on it then I will recommend you the change the WHOLE integrated fuel pump/fuel sending unit and fuel filter at the same time.

Failed Smog Test - 4 codes for 2001 Isuzu Rodeo

Tune it up and replace the 02 sensor that keeps setting the codes bank 2 sensor 1. Have your oil and filter changed right before you go for a retest to. That will clear up 3 codes P0300, 0155 and 0154. You might have to replace the fuel sending unit to get rid of P0463 but if the gauge works OK I'd leave it alone.
