2004 Mercury Montery - The shift liver don't come out of Parking

The shift liver don't come out of Parking even with the brake pedel depressed. This happens only certain times, but not all the time. I would like to know if this the brake light switch problem. If so, I would like to know how to replace the brake light switch. Thanks

Add brake fluid to a 2004 Mercury Monterey van

I am gonna' guess the question is how best to add brake fluid.
It's a pain. Short of removing the cowling/deck the only suggestion I can offer is using a funnel that has some type of long tube or hose attached to it. Adding fluid directly from a container is possible but it's difficult.

04 mercury monterey check traction control appears on display. Traction control still works.

You may have a wheel bearing that is going , causing the check traction controle light to display .
Or even a tire that is low on air pressure.... or brakes that need servicing...
Anything tire speed related will do ...

2004 mercury montery sputters when in idle , went to autozone got codes p2197,p2195,p0171,and p0174 have changed fuel filter and still continues.

Most likely a vacuum leak effecting the O2 Sensors

That is your 4 codes.

Have the Evap System checked also, for leaks

Fuel Filter--filters fuel,doesn't fix anything

04 Aviator won't come out of Park on Incline

Try rocking the truck while attempting to shift out of park. In the future always set your parking brake before shifting to park and releasing the foot brake. This will keep the weight of the truck from binding the parking lock in the Trans.

Cannot shift out of park on some occasions

A sensor located at the top of the brake pedel that isn't contacting properly, or is worn excessively. In order to shift gears the car needs to sense that the brake pedel has been depressed. If the sensor is faulty the car won't get the proper signal to allow it to shift. The problem will only get worse as the sensor wears out more.
