Question about 1998 GMC Sonoma

1 Answer

Wipers wont always turn on

I have a 1998 gmc sierra. Some times the wipes turn on and sometimes they do not. Also if they are on for a while they will just stop straight up on the windshied. could it be a relay switch or any ideas.

Could be the motor. The "park" portion is controlled by the motor.
You need to use a meter to test voltage to determine if the switch is feeding the motor.

Change the washer fluid motor out with a new one. They do wear out. Make sure the windshield wiper fluid is not frozen in cold climates.

1990 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup. Windshield wipers, Cruise Control

May want to look at replacing the wiper circuit board. It is located on the firewall adjacent to the wiper motor and has a some what square black cover with 3 torx screws and wireing harness pluged into the side.We had a truck that every time you washed it the wipers would stay on until it dryed out.You can try removing it and spaying it down with contact cleaner just watch the brease on the two contact tips.Well hope this helps.

Windshield wiper problem

Some of these trucks are covered under a recall. Call the dealer with your VIN number and they can tell you if its covered. IF its not covered, you will need to replace the WIPER CIRCUIT BOARD. or if you are real handy with a soldering iron, you can take the board out and ck for cracked solder joints. COMMON PROBLEM. ; )
