My 1998 Dodge Intrepid is starting & then stalling only after a few seconds. The engine light came on, & the code was P1391. Any ideas?

That code is indicating an intermittant crank shaft or cam shaft sensor fault. Because the engine is starting then stalling, check to see if you have spark after the stall. If spark is still present, you are probobley looking at a cam sensor circuit issue. The cam sensor controls the fuel injector pulse. If the cam sensor fails on a chrysler product, the fuel injectors will not function.

I have a 98 Intrepid with a 2.7 engine. It was driving fine on Thursday night. Went to leave for work Friday morning and it wouldn't start. So far, we have tried a new battery, had the started tested,

The 2.7 had alot of problems with the cam sensor. I would start there. Its located on the front top of the timing cover. Unplug it and see if it "Pops" attempts to start.

Dodge 2002 intrepid ...serging wont go above 2500 rpm like the governer is kicking in..

i really don't think they have a goverenor..i believe its called a rev limiter...although that's what sounds like is happening, i believe it just may be a fuel issue..perhaps a plugged filter, or pump maybe going. Have it taken to your shop..i have seen, if the spark plugs are bad, then it will also cause the underlying condition as well...so there are a few ideas....my advice is get a tune up anyway, plugs, fuel filter, air filter...then if the problem is fuel pump, do the strainer and fuel filter and air filter at the same time...to eliminate any further problems.

How do I change a cam position sensor on a dodge intrepid

If the sensor is in the front of the motor. You will have to remove the bolt in the top of the plastic intake and lift it up about 3" and support it with something. Like a piece of wood. Then unplug the sensor and remove the bolt that holds it in and swap it out. Then reinstall in reverse order. Then clear your check engine light. After you should hold the rpm's around 1500 for around 30 seconds to relearn. May need to have a scan tool to sync. the sensor.

1998 Intrepid random misfire

I have a 98 dodge intrepid with a 2.7. My car would run fine at times and then all of a sudden start to miss badly and the valves would rattle. The mechanic changed the cam shaft sensor and now it runs very well.

Gears aren't shifting...RPM's too high

There is a problem with the transmission sensor on these cars that will set a trouble code and cause the problems that you describe. Another issue is the correct fluid, use ATF+4 in your Intrepid or you'll mess up the transmission.
