H3 simply will not start, cranks like crazy

It seems like after X cycles of the ignition, my '06 H3 simply will crank like crazy and not start. If I wait 10-15 mins, it'll start like nothing was wrong. It happened to me one night after work, and recently at a gas pump. Very frustrating because it's just now out of warranty.

How do you load the cam actuator after changing the head gasket on a 2006 Hummer H3?

two ways: cranking the engine by turning the crank pulley bolt. Best done with valve cover off to verify full engine oil prime. The other economical way is by disabling the ignition and fuel pump (fuse removal) and cranking engine for 5 seconds, three times each.

Went to start my 06 H3 and everything is dead. No electrical whatsoever. No I didn't leave any lights on. :) Now I can't even get the key to turn back all the way so I can't get the key out....

First check the battery connections. Make sure they are all clean and tight. Ground cable and connection to starter as well. Try getting a boost or put a charger on it. When you get it going, you'll have to check everything closely to make sure nothing is on. It is possible that the battery is just done, or the starter could be fried and just drained the battery. Let me know how you make out.

Chevy malibu displays "Theft system"

You can the procedure below by following the details to reset the Passlock system. Otherwise, you will need to have it diagnosed and repaired. There is no quick way to disable an alarm system on any vehicle, if this could be simply done, the alarm system would be useless.

30 Minute Learn Procedure

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON, vehicle will not start.
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes, the vehicle is now ready to relearn the PasslockTM Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. Important The vehicle learns the PasslockTM Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.

  6. Start the engine, the vehicle has now learned the PasslockTM Sensor Data Code and/or password.
  7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed, history DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.

Wow... My 2006 H3 has similar intermittent starting problems. I've noticed the starter seems to "run on" for a second or two...after returning the ignition key to off. It's' happened during cold start-ups.... and at normal operating temperatures. I couldnt find much information on it but since the ignition system appears to reset itself after 20 or 30 minutes.... I'm swaying towards checking the ohms resistance of the ignition key chip and its relationship to the fuel shutoff circuit managed by the security system. I'll let you know how it goes.... wyatt

Might be two problems, but one is your igniter in the distributor. The second, the idling problem is either your throttle position sensor, or a vacuum leak. With the engine running , check all hoses for leaks by wiggling them around, while listening for a hissing. Check intake bolts for tightness.
