If it is hydralic it is right beside the brake fluid eithier in a black or clear resivior it may be a cable clutch and then it would not have any fluid

Hello Danny, If you have a soft pedal, and can smell fluid burning, i would say the clutch slave cylinder is leaking inside of the bell housing. When this happens you do not get the proper travel of the slave for the clutch to release. That is why the gears grind. If it is leaking, you should notice a loss of fluid in the clutch master cylinder. Here is a link for clutch components that fit your vehicle. I hope this information is helpful.

Hello buiskit: My name is Roger and I will help you. If the fluid runs down the firewall or leaks down on the floor board or on your foot. The problem should be the clutch master cylinder. However should the fluid leak at the bell housing area. Then the problem is the slave cylinder. To replace the slave cylinder you will need to pull the transmission in order to replace the slave cylinder. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

I have a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo in which the clutch pedal went to the floor & stayed there. Upon inspection, the clutch master cylinder was empty on fluid. I filled the reservoir & bleed the clutch...

It sounds as if you have 2 problems here.

The fact that the clutch pedal went to the floor and stayed there suggest a fault in the master cylinder. It may be that you need to overhaul the master cylinder.

Overhaul kits are available at less cost than a clutch master cylinder:

The grinding noise ... A grinding noise would be caused by either the gear not engaging properly because of the defective clutch.

Or, if it is more of a squealing noise - that may be the clutch release bearing at fault.

Are you absolutely sure that your entire clutch unit - pressure plate, driven plate and release bearing aren't worn?

Clutch slips in hot weather

You might want to flush and re-fill slave cylinder and bleed the system.Use only the recomended fluid, sounds like either air in system or too light weight fluid in cylinder.when hyd. fluid gets hot it get thin when its cold it stays thicker. Is there a heat sheild missing? Hope this helps.

96 pathfinder clutch pedal has lost pressure,

usually when this happen you lost fluid pressure look for a fluid leak at the clutch master cylinder under the hood ,it should be by the brake master ,it has a small plastic tank on top with a black rubber cap or underneath on the transmission there is the clutch slave cylinder it will have a small 2 inch rod that pushes the clutch fork ,look for the rubber boot on it ,see if there is fluid coming out of it ,also follow the clutch fluid lines maybe somthing has damaged one and its leaking !
