What to do when there no psi on cyl 4 to get the psi up agan"?"

There are at least three possible reasons for no psi in cyl No 4.
1. Burnt or damaged exhaust valve in that cylinder
FIX Remove head and replace faulty valve
2. Blown head gasket (water mixed with sump oil shows milky on dipstick and steam or water coming out of exhaust tailpipe, radiator water disappears )
FIX Remove head, grind flat and assemble with new gasket.
3. Broken piston rings, or cracked piston or burnt hole in piston.
FIX replace faulty parts.
Squirt some sump oil ( 2 or 3 spoonfuls ) through spark plug hole,
spin motor , and if compression PSI improves then it is rings or piston, if no PSI then it is faulty ex valve !!!

Going through alot of oil and antifreeze.... have oil where my spark plug is

The engine can burn alot of coolant before you see any smoke.
And having a cooling leak in the engine could cause it to run hot at times.
If you are adding coolant every week and don't see any leaks, the engine has to be burning it. Most of the time it is a blown head gasket and cracked head or block.

2003 ford escape wont start

Check intake, compression, ignition, exhaust & vacuum. If the intake &/or the exhaust is blocked/clogged it won't run.
If the radiator acts like old faithful while you crank it, it has a blown head gasket, cracked head & or a cracked block.
If the radiator is dry or has very little in it, check the oil & the exhaust for antifreeze/water.
If you find antifreeze/water in the oil &/or the exhaust, it has a blown head gasket or cracked head/block.
Check the compression. If water/antifreeze shoots out of the spark plug holes (take all the spark plugs out for the compression test) during the compression test, it has a blown head gasket &/or a cracked head/block.
Check the ignition w/a spark plug tester that you can buy at parts stores for $10 or less. Some of them you just hold the tip close to the plug wire or touch the rubber boot on the spark plug so the tester can pick up the pulse from the wire/plug via induction. Others are put in line between the plug wire & plug.
Unplug the computer connectors & check for corrosion. You can clean them by plugging/unplugging the connectors multiple times or maybe you can use a small piece of emery cloth or an emery board. Make sure to blow any dust out of the connector.
Check the vacuum hoses. All hoses on a vehicle get brittle & crack w/age, then they leak. Use a vacuum gage to check vacuum.
I hope that you find the solution & get your Ford running again.

I am trying to figure out if I have a blown head gasket or if the spark plugs have went bad. I have a 97 Cadillac Catera. It seems to be misfiring or something within the engine is rubbing aginst each...

check the plugs and sounds like you could have oil saturated spark plug wires, check each cyl,to see if you have a blown head gasket you would have to do a compression check on each cyl.

I have changed the thermostat and waterpump, the radiator and hoses, and there is no water in the oil so that tells me there is no blown head gasket or cracked head what else could be causing it to overheat?

Smell for exhaust fumes in the radiator with cap off while it is running to check for a small head gasket seepage of compression. Also to narrow it down put a mirror in front of warm spark plug hole to check for steam escaping and fogging the mirror. I have seen water pump blades rotted off and radiators plugged with stop leak.

HONDA CIVIC 1992 HEATING UP. i CLEAN THE RADIATOR WATER PUMP IS WORKING FINE THERE IS NO WATER LEAK - BUT STILL LOOSING WATER 1/2 LTS EVERY TWO DAYS

You may have a small pin hole in one of your hoses that is only leaking under pressure. Of course you may not notce it with the vehicle idling because the pressure is higher as the rpms rise while you are driving.

More importantly though, you need to check your oil dipstick. If the oil looks "milky" you may have water leaking into your oil. This can happen if you have a problem with your "heads" such as a small crack. A cracked head can lead to a blown motor so check it out as you are checking all of your hoses on your cooling systems.

Good Luck!

Rough idling, seems to have power loss, and takes more oil than usual

is there smoke coming out of the exhaust? if so what color? if it has white smoke is usually a blown head gasket. if it is a bluish gray it is oil. check your radiator when it is cool. if it appears to have oil in it it could be a blown head gasket. if you leave the radiator cap off start the motor, if you rev the engine and coolant shoots out of the radiator (compression from the cylinder forcing water out) it is a blown head gasket. this can cause the motor to run weak and idle rough and oil to disappear.
if you happen to have a compression gauge take out all of the spark plugs look at the spark plugs if they all look the same or is there ones that look black and sooty(running rich) or looks green(burning antifreeze/water) white Burning hot) http://www.dansmc.com/spark_plugs/spark_plugs_catalog.html
check the compression of each cylinder it is easier if you have an assistant for this. place the gauge over the spark plug hole crank the motor once or twice. the gauge should be around 120 psi (pounds per square inch). if all of the cylinders are under 120 psi more than likely you have worn or broken rings which will cause low compression causing it to run weak and consume oil.

There is water in the oil on my 2001 chevy s-10 extreme, is this a problem with the head gasket?

If your truck overheated in the pass more then likely yes.# 1 Check and see if white smoke come's out of the tail pipe, # 2 remove radiator cap start engine see if water shoots out where radiator cap fits on, # 3 also if it runs with a cylinder miss remove spark plugs, unplug ignition coil and crank engine look for water coming out of spark plug holes.if yes to any of these steps yes bad head gasket. # 4 have a block test done any repair shop can do this.
