Mate.I would say the lockout switch on the drivers switch panel is playing up.Take the panel off and check for loose wiring or broken switch.Hope this helps

Sorry I didn't have the wiring diagram

  • thomasnee Oct 06, 2009

You dont need to.Take the panel off and have a look for a loose or broken wire. All the wiring goes through that one switch panel. You can bypass a broken switch to check if that is the problem. Its the lockout switch that is the problem.Get any auto or house sparky to check that lock/unlock switch.Hope this helps

I have a 1998 jeep cherekee sport that the windows (front and back) work from the drivers side door but don't work from any other door. what do you think that the problem might be?

sounds like a wiring problem. trace wires. check power at all window switches. by a manual and look at the wiring diagrams find out what should do what when the switch is pushed and test it.

I have a 2000 cherokee classic. window lock problem?

Before changing the switch, I would check connections. The connection problem would be in the master switch...the one in the drivers door.

The problem is none of the windows other than the drivers work

Also check the wires coming out of the drivers door near the hinges between the doors and the body to make sure no breakage has occured, and you are on the right track thus far...... you can always by pas the swtich as well, till you can replace the switch

2000 jeep cherokee sport fuse diagram

Likely you are looking for a 30 amp circuit breaker...(Looks like a small rectangular metal fuse) But...if the power door locks work, i don't think that it's bad (serves locks & windows) My diagrams show a bunch of diodes and resistors inside the master (drivers) door switch, but I've had a few apart and never saw any. (embedded?) Personally I don't see anything that shows me reliability built into the switch...It's a really "iffy" design (one in my niece's Jeep only works when the sun shines on the drivers door) There is also a control module associated with the windows but I've never needed to replace one and the manuals never tell you where they are!
Check power at the switch and check harness where it goes through the rubber boot between the door and body. at least 80% of problems I've seen are either the switch or that wiring. Wires can be spliced and you can get a decent used switch at most scrap yards.
Good luck...glad they aren't stuck down!!!

Power Window Not Working

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} I had the same problem. There’s a wire harness and plug that go thru a flexible boot between the body and the front doors to control the switch clusters on the doors.
Over time opening the doors will affect these components.
  1. Check fuse # 8
  2. Make sure the plug (referenced above) is secured.
  3. Peel back the boot carefully, and check the wires.
(In my Jeep, I found the black wire broken and the light blue w/blue stripe wire cracked. I fixed them on the drivers side, and the mirrors and the locks now work. My windows are still not working, so I’m going to check the passenger side.)
Good luck!

Power door locks and windows

The answer to your question is maybe. Get a couple of switches from a junkyard (my guy gets $5.00 each) and try them. Here's why: I have no less than five different wiring diagrams, and none of them make any sense at all (been doing this stuff a really long time) I keep a good switch handy to check my jeeps when one gets wierd on me...even so, my 93 passenger window works with the key off, none of the others do. Stopped trying to figure it out a long time ago, but would really like to meet the guy who designed this stuff!

When you open the drivers door you can see a wiring harness between the door and the body of the car.
You more than likely have wires broken in there.
