Question about 2005 Nissan Frontier

1 Answer

2005 Nissan Frontier, V6 engine. 54,000 miles. Check Engine light. Dealer said it is a Fuel Level Sensor. I looked that up and it showed to be a code P1464. I am planniing a 400 mile, one way, trip in 2 weeks. If I don't get it fixed, will I hurt anything? The young service mgr. guy said they would have to drain all my gas from the tank and pull the gas tank to fix this, if indeed this is the problem. Sounds suspicious to me. Why would they put a sensor in the gas tank?

That sensor is part of the fuel level sending unit. its what communictes with the little gauge on the dashboard to show u how much fuel is left in the tank. leaving it un corrected can lead to incorrect fuel level indications and u could run out of fuel even tho the gauge says u have half a tank or anything like that. Yes, u need to drain the fuel tank to be able to safely remove it from the vehicle unless u take it in with a very very low amount of fuel in it.

If the FSM doesn't show one, you don't have one. Look for the fuel pump module/computer.

If it was a recall and your vehicle met the requirements for that recall contact Nissan usa and get them to issue you a credit. If the vehicle falls under a campaign or bulletin, that is only covered under basic warranty

2001 frontier 3.3l v6 with 152,000 miles. had my SES light come on yesterday. i pulled code P0430. Is this an O2 sensor issue? if so which one, if I remmber correctly there are 4.

P0430....Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)

yes it could very well be a O2 sensor and the quickest way is to test with a multi meter ,their are 2 sensors on each bank ,now each sensor has four wires and two of the wires are the same colour ,so check these two wires for 12v supply coming to them ,then the other tow should show a varying current as engine ides and is revved a little ,

Check engine light is on and now the truck is spitting and sput

i would take it back. they should cover it. sounds like mass air flow sensor. if it was barelly detailed it water might of seeped into the intake thus sucking small amount of water which then causes sputtering and a little lack of power.
