Question about 1992 Ford Explorer

Car will not start. Quick start sprayed into throttle body runs for the time the fumes are in the throttle body. Fuel is not coming into the engine. Fuses are OK. Any ideas why it won't start. Thank you.

Check fuel pump relay, check fuel filter and or ,fuel pump bad

you can start by checking fuel pressure. There should be a test port on the fuel line under the throttle body. there should be around 35 psi of pressure.

if you do not have a pressure gauge try keeping the vehicle running by spraying short bursts of car spray into the throttle body. if the car will run on carb spray than you know you have a fuel issue and checking pressure would be a good start.

CARB SPRAY IS FLAMMABLE, PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL TO DO THIS OUTSIDE AND HAVE SOME SORT OF MEANS TO PUT OUT A FIRE READY IF NEEDED!!

Turns over like it is out of gas, won't start


Check fuel pump. Turn on the ignition an lesen for the pump to prime the fuel line. Fuel/Fire/Air the three elements required for combustion. You would usually smell raw gas fumes coming from the tailpipe when you crank the engine if you fuel delivery is working. A quick check to determine if you have a fuel problem: Remove the air filter and gain access to the throttle body, open the throttle plate and spray some starter fluid in the chamber. If the car starts for a moment, you probably have a fuel problem. Check for spark.

Ford expedition 2007 engine crank but wont start and engine light blinking 8 times


You will need to do some testing here to find out why truck will not start,
this may be a bad fuel pump but lets check, a quick test is to spray starting fluid into throttle body. you will need to remove the intake boot to get to throttle body to spray, you will also need to open throttle plate with finger . with plate open spray fluid for 5 sec, then release the plate and put boot back on and try to start truck. if this is a fuel problem then truck should start and run for a few seconds and then die out. if it does this then i would say the fuel pump is bad,

A quicker test is to have someone banging on the bottom of the tank while someone to trying to start it, and if it starts then pump is bad, this is not a definite way but a quick way, try this first and then starting fluid. good day.

I haved a 1989 Buick Park Avenue 3.8 engine...I have replaced the starter, coil pack, ignition module, crank sensor and cam sensor and still cannot get it to fire...I really NEED this car to run so PLEASE...


ok ! did you mean its got spark but does not start. if spark but does not start. check to see if its getting fuel to engine. remove air hose from throttle body and spray some starting fluid in throttle body, open throttle plate and spray some in. if car starts then stops, its a fuel problem. if no spark check the harmonic balancer on engine to see if its loose, the 3.8 engine have a crank position sensor that runs off the balancer. the rubber starts wearing out and the balancer start flopping around. and the timing gets massed up. good-day ! type in on pc browser ignition switch symtoms, and a list of things will come up. for a ignition switch controls over 50% of voltage for vehicle. good-day !

03 t'blazer, starter replaced, car runs ine but


You need to clean the throttle body, and possibly replace the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor. Use a baby bottle brush with nylon bristles and some carbureator cleaner to clean the throttle body and the back of the throttle blade. Take intake hose loose from engine have someone in car hold gas pedal to floor( engine not running) spray carb cleaner into throttle body and brush with bottle brush. When clean re attach the hose (engine will not start with hose un hooked) and start the engine. The engine might be hard to start the first time because of the extra fuel in the intake, but it wil start. You will need to run it a few minutes to clear the extra fuel, then try the ac and see if the idle is better.

91 Sevelle is operated using an electric fuel pump that is located inside of the fuel tank. Either the pump needs to be replaced, or, you have other problems and the computer is telling the fuel pump not to turn on.

I would suggest that you test the voltage going to the pump as well as the pressure on the lines using a fuel pump tester made for a Fuel Injected Vehicle.

If you attempt to spray a small amount of carb cleaner or WD40 into the throttle body and it tries to start when you crank it, you need a new fuel pump. You can spray a small amount of gasoline into the throttle body, reinstall the intake hose & try to start, sometimes the car will run until the fumes are gone. Use caution to prevent fires due to fuel getting onto areas other than inside the iintake/throttle body. Vent until fumes are gone if you accidently spill fuel to prevent possible fire caused by backfiring.

The fuel tank has to be removed to remove the fuel pump assembly, pumps are available as OEM or aftermarket pumps alone, or complete pump assembly. It is easier for those inexperienced to replace the entire assembly.

cold start sensor is faulty. basically when you start a car from cold,the sensor mixes the air and fuel to allow more fuel to air ratio to start the car. as the engine warms the air fuel mixture weakens to give a economical fuel consumption.hence your car starts warm.

Engine cuts out


When it quits & won't restart, If you pull air intake hose of at throttle body & spray 2 or 3 seconds of WD-40 (like quick start) inside the throttle body with plate pushed open, then try to start & if it kicks over or fires up for a second or 2 then dies, you'll know it's a fuel related problem, then you can take a good look at rest of fuel system for problems like relay or pump.

If you remove air intake hose at throttle body, and spray WD-40 in throttle body , and it starts, you have a fuel problem. WD-40 works like quick start spray, only a little easier on the engine.
