That means its getting too much fuel...check air filter, it maybe dirty or needs replacement.if its not that then its probably a sensor that goes to the computer... a shop should be able to tell you what the problem is.

Burning to much fuel. You can do a cylinder contribution test(takes a scanner) And see which cylinder/s are lagging. Then go after the injectors. One or more could be stuck open, pouring fuel into the cylinder.

Hello,

Black smoke is usually a sign of the accelerator pump set wrong, a choke plate could be partially closed and it could also be a really clogged air filter. If you pulled the air filter and the car turned on with no problems then replace it as this is one of the reasons for black smoke. It's not often a gas vehicle blows black smoke. The vehicle is starving for air.

Black smoke under acceleration that comes and goes. Have changed mass air flow sensor and did not help. Model is 2005 six speed turbo diesel

Black smoke indicates you are running rich. You may have to address the fuel injectors to make sure one is not stuck open. After replacing the MAF censor this would be my next step. Also your turbo seal might be leaking causing your truck to run rich throwing off the o2 censor. Also you can get black smoke from turbo blowby. Not burning oil but actual oil passing the rear turbine seal and getting into the exhaust. This should give you a few good places to check out. Good luck to you.

Ive gota 2006 audi a4 sline when a oil pressure light came on it stil drives does not rev over 2000 revs and throws alot of black smoke owt what isit

Black smoke is a sign of excessive fuel, there is something wrong with the fuel injection or one of the sensors which is sending an incorrect signal to the unit, perhaps it is still inn start enrichment. The oil pressure switch could be linked to the start system and the switch is either faulty or the engine oil pressure is failing.

I have a 1995 chevy astro van that throws out gray smoke from the exhaust which later turns to black smoke the smoke also smells like gas

May be a head gasket. Anti-freeze will burn white / gray. Make sure you are not losing coolant. Look at your oil on the dip for any signs of foaming / water.
Take care.

My engine is smoking and i dont know why it just started .

Probably there is an emission control that has failed. Check the engine codes for anything stored that would throw off perfect combustion of gasoline and oxygen in the air.

Is there a service engine soon light on?

What color is the smoke?
If it's white and smells sweet it's antifreeze from the head gasket.
If it's blue/black smoke then it could be a bad fuel air mixture.
If it's blue/black it could also be oil burning.

Good luck on this diagnosis.
