Question about 2004 Volkswagen Golf

2 Answers

My VW Golf mk4 does not respond to ''lock'' on the remote-control-key, nor does it lock when pressing the lock-button on the driverside door. Manually locking the door with the key does not activate the central locking but locks just the driver side door. It has happened before that when I get out to get my car in the morning the windows are down (!) but the car still locked.

You need to replace the drivers door latch.

there is a little micro switch inside the latch which tells the security computer what position the lock is in. when they go bad you must replace the latch.

but i'll warn you!
it's expensive

Vw golf mk4 my rear passenger door willnot open with central locking key system. i can't even open it from the inside, pull the door handle and the lock pin rises but door won't open. i believ

This worked for me on 2008 Mk5 Golf, after the rear passenger door would not open fro outside or inside.

Hold the inside door latch open and keep it extended, then with the key fob open and close the door locks (still holding the inside latch open). Keep locking and unlocking the door, then it made a kluck and it released.

I own a second hand 1999 VW Golf MK4 19 TDI and I have been experiencing trouble with the central lock for ages ! At the beginning the passenger side door when I pressed the lock button on the FOB key did...

Dear sir, I am glad to share the experience. I had the same problem. At first I also thought it was the key that was faulty, I Went and bought new batteries, but it never worked. When a specialist checked, we found that the ignition system is the one that was faulty. When we replaced it (USD500.0), the problem was resolved.
The only complication is that when you change the ignition system, the key and the steering lock which is always a set has to be replaced, the key need to be programmed with the computer in the car so that it works. So I wish you the best. Julius ouma, Kampala, Uganda. Julius.ouma@ gmail.com

I need to reset my car alarm on my 02 vw golf. the battery has been replaced so alarm wont unlock doors

stick key in driver door lock and unlock it. If that works, now see if the remote will unlock the door or doors..i remember reading in an owners manual once where you can program which doors open and close by they way you press and hold down the two main buttons, also after a battery change in the remote, i think, but not sure, i did this on a blazar i once owned... the owners manual said, that you had to be within 20 feet and press and hold down both buttons till it makes the arming sound.... Can i get some feedback cause im curious..thanks.

Program remote control for mazda mpv 2002

Courtesy of: forums.mazdaworld.org

Try this, it works on several 2002 models:

Step 1: Open drivers door and leave open.

Step 2: Lock and unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door.

Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.

Step 4: Turn key to on position and return to off position. (IMPORTANT - use ON position NOT ACC position). Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. Leave key in the ignition.

Step 5: Open and close the drivers door 3 times. (Door should be left open after this step).

Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors.

Step 7: Press any button on remote #1. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.

Step 8: Press any button on remote #2 (etc.) Each time the ECU will respond by locking & unlocking the doors.

Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series of door locks and unlocks. You're done
